Huawei Nova 14 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei Nova 14 Pro Overview
Huawei Nova 14 Pro - the weak link of the line?
The new generation of the Nova line from the Chinese company Huawei turned out to be more than good, although there are no revolutionary changes when compared with its predecessors. However, the hero of today's review, which is average in terms of technology and performance in the updated series, seems to be the least interesting option for purchase.
The appearance of the new product is almost no different from that of the unit without the Pro index. The colors of the cases, the camera unit, the materials from which they are made (glass panel and plastic edging), the display frame with a built-in fingerprint scanner are similar, but the selfie camera has become dual (50 MP + 8 MP). Social networks will simply be overflowing with high-quality photos. The 6.78-inch AMOLED screen in the device is already noticeably better. The resolution of 2776x1224 pixels allows you to achieve excellent image clarity, and it also couldn't do without a refresh rate of 120 Hz (minimum - 1 Hz to reduce energy consumption), natural color rendition, and almost complete absence of the PWM effect. Peak brightness is a decent 2500 cd / m2.
The technical characteristics are the proprietary Kirin 8020 CPU, 12 GB of RAM and the Maleoon 920 video adapter. The bundle is far from flagship, but suitable for the functioning of the HarmonyOS OS without an abundance of lags. In the popular AnTuTu test, the chipset scores 850 thousand points, and copes with the most resource-intensive games at low-medium graphics settings. There is throttling, the monoblock heats up after long gaming sessions, but the drops in framerate are not critical. The battery capacity has reached 5500 mAh, which means about one and a half to two days of mobile assistant operation. Fast charging power is 100 W, so you won't have to stay near the outlet for a long time. The permanent memory is allocated 256/512/1024 GB, there is no possibility of expansion with MicroSD cards.
The photo capabilities of the main cameras are slightly improved in comparison with the "regular" version. A ToF module has appeared, the main 50-megapixel sensor now has hybrid stabilization, the telephoto lens with a three-fold optical zoom also has it. Both daytime and evening shots will please with detail and correct color rendition. The wide-angle module, unfortunately, is still 8-megapixel and frankly mediocre. Stereo sound is at a level, bass is audible, the volume does not disappoint. We will also cancel the presence of contactless payments NFC, 5G networks. There are no Google services, but fans of the brand's phones need to get used to such shortcomings. As a result, the gadget looks somewhat expensive for the functionality provided, but its purchase is still unlikely to cause negative emotions.
