Huawei Nova 14 Ultra Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei Nova 14 Ultra Overview
Huawei Nova 14 Ultra - a practically flagship delight
The review of the new generation of Nova-series smartphones from the Chinese company Huawei ends with its most technologically advanced representative with the Ultra index. The device is definitely more interesting than its less expensive brothers in the series in many aspects, but the manufacturer either could not bring the sub-flagship to the ideal, or simply did not want to.
The design concept of the new product is the same as the previously reviewed phones of the line. An unusual futuristic block of photo modules is present, but now the colors of the rear glass panels are even more varied, and the frames of the 6.81-inch AMOLED screen with a built-in fingerprint scanner are even thinner. The edging has become metallic, and full moisture protection according to IP68 standards has finally been added. The applied AMOLED panel changes the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz depending on the operations performed, has a number of competitive advantages such as an impressive resolution of 2860 x 1272 pixels, realistic color rendition without noticeable errors, minimal PWM effect and a high-quality oleophobic layer.
The technical characteristics are the proprietary Kirin 8020 CPU, 12 GB of RAM and the Maleoon 920 video accelerator. The bundle, unfortunately, is far from the top solutions in terms of performance. You can count on about 800-850 thousand points in the AnTuTu test. Gamers will have to lower the graphics settings in the most demanding games to about the average preset. The chipset is enough for everyday life, HarmonyOS, if it upsets with lags, is extremely rare. As for autonomy, there are no problems with it due to the use of a 5500 mAh battery. It guarantees about two days of work with the device. But for some reason there is no wireless charging, which is disappointing. Fortunately, the power of the wired analog is brought to an excellent 100 W. The constant memory is allocated 256/512/1024 GB.
Photographic capabilities are excellent for the price segment. All cameras (except for the ToF sensor) RYYB, the main 50-megapixel sensor and periscope telephoto lens with almost fourfold optical zoom are equipped with hybrid stabilization. This fact significantly increases the chances of getting a detailed evening photo even with the dynamics of the captured event. The 13 MP wide-angle lens is simpler, but will also be useful for a mobile photographer. Stereo sound is loud, the frequency response is relatively smooth. NFC contactless payments, 5G network support are in place, but you can't dream of Google services. Thus, if you are ready to put up with their absence, as well as the not particularly impressive behavior of the processor in gaming applications, then the gadget will cause only positive emotions.
