Huawei P50 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei P50 Overview
Huawei P50 - ideal for a photographer
The Chinese company Huawei, even in such difficult conditions for itself (the ban on the installation of Google services, the inability to develop its own Kirin chips and cooperation with other manufacturers for a long period), is increasing its sales worldwide. The reason for this is even greater emphasis on value for money, which is difficult to resist. In addition, the developer tries to correctly segment the products. So, a significant share of the cost of the hero of today's review went precisely to his photographic capabilities.
The design of the novelty is incredibly beautiful, but still not perfect. So, the design of three photomodules turned out to be too massive and unusual, albeit original. However, the bezel-less display itself, the sturdy tempered glass back, the metal bezel and the sub-screen fingerprint scanner evoke only approval and even delight. In such a graceful monoblock, you don't expect to find also protection against dust and moisture according to IP68 standards. The picture displayed by the AMOLED panel is flagship in terms of brightness and contrast. The 2,700 x 1,224 pixel resolution and 90 hertz refresh rate, as well as the effective oleophobic coating, enhance the good impression.
The technical characteristics are excellent, but with certain drawbacks. Qualcomm company's top solution in the form of a Snapdragon chipset 888 coupled with 8GB of RAM and a video accelerator Adreno 660 can easily handle demanding games at maximum graphics presets and is characterized by a reasonable, though not particularly modest power consumption. But the heating of the CPU is very noticeable after hours of gaming sessions. 128 / 256GB of ROM and a slot for MicroSD cards (NanoMemory) make you forget about the potential lack of memory.
The main 50-, 13- and 1 -megapixel cameras feature optical stabilization (telephoto only) and 5x zoom that dramatically improve both day and night photography. Now, getting a clear and detailed shot, even in low light, will not be difficult. The battery capacity is not a record ( 4100mAh ), but the optimization of HarmonyOS 2.0 (proprietary operating system) and the overall energy efficiency of the components guarantee about 9-10 hours of active screen time. There are also stereo speakers and support for NFC contactless payments, but things like a separate headphone jack or wireless charging are unfortunately not. Google services are also not provided. As a result, the device evokes a lot of positive emotions and is an extremely productive and functional camera phone, which can be forgiven for its shortcomings.
