Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Overview
Huawei Pura 80 Ultra - the need to compromise
Of course, 2025 could not pass without the release of a full-fledged photo flagship by the Chinese company Huawei. However, the inability to use the most productive chipsets from famous developers and install Google services in their products seriously affected the competitiveness of the new product. So, not every fan of mobile electronics will want to buy the hero of today's review.
The appearance of the device is similar to that of its cheaper brothers in the line. An excellent combination of metal and tempered glass from a tactile point of view, the presence of moisture protection according to IP69 standards, the thinnest screen frames perfectly match the massive, but at the same time stylish and memorable block of photo modules. But only two colors are left. The 6.8-inch AMOLED screen is still the same, but it cannot be considered mediocre even in the highest price segment. The brightness of 3000 nits is enough to interact with a compact assistant in direct sunlight, the resolution of 2848x1276 pixels is enough for a clear picture, although it could have been higher. Of course, it could not do without a refresh rate of 120 Hz, an oleophobic coating, a built-in fingerprint scanner. The PWM effect practically does not manifest itself.
But with technical characteristics, it is still quite bad. The proprietary Kirin 9020 CPU (16 GB of RAM, Maleoon 910 video core) is far from ideal, a million points in the AnTuTu test is not the result you expect from a flagship. Gamers will have to lower the graphics settings to get a stable frame rate in Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact. Autonomy has become slightly lower, since the battery capacity is now 5170 mAh. Wireless charging has not disappeared, its power is still 80W, the wired analog is 100W. You only need to be near a socket or charger for 20-30 minutes, but the battery life will be about a day and a half. 512/1024 GB of permanent memory is allocated, there is no slot for MicroSD cards.
But the photo capabilities are amazing. The main 50-megapixel module from Smartsens is equipped with a well-developed hybrid stabilization system, it is also available in high-quality telephoto lenses of 50 MP and 12 MP (4x and 10x optical zoom), and the 40-megapixel wide-angle lens does not disappoint. Impeccable detailing of both daytime and evening shots, videos even in 8K resolution amaze with smoothness, the absence of noise and other artifacts. Stereo sound is also excellent. It is loud, rich and voluminous. NFC contactless payment, 5G network support, IR port add to the list of advantages, however, the features of the HarmonyOS OS, the lack of Google services, and the low processor performance for the price category still make the device not the most interesting option for purchase.
