Makibes HR3 Overview
Makibes HR3 - chasing the leaders
Fitness trackers have long been an attribute of a modern young man. Replacing the standard wristwatch, which includes a good set of various functions and pleasing a modest price, has become really popular. One of the leaders of this type of mobile electronics has become a line of fine bracelets Xiaomi Mi Band. The latest released model number three has acquired a touchscreen display and even NFC.
Of course, the glory of the Chinese corporation Siaomi does not allow sleeping well and other brands. Little-known firm Makibes has decided to create its fitness tracker HR3, which has a number of competitive advantages. Surprisingly, the first pancake did not come out as a lump, but it's also not a potential bestseller.
Novelty meets us with a simple cardboard box, the inscription on which directly hints at the presence of a heartbeat sensor in the device. In addition to the bracelet inside, you can find only a mini-instruction, the informativeness of which is low (list of modes, name of the application for the smartphone, and how to remove the strap). The design of the tracker is pleasing to the eye. Color 0.96-inch TFT-display, high-quality plastic body, cute silicone strap leave only a positive impression of the appearance of the bracelet. When you remove one of the halves of the belt (which is unlikely to succeed the first time - so closely adjoining parts of the device), it is easy to detect a full-sized USB port for charging. This fact definitely worth bringing to the merits of the bracelet, because you need to wear a special charger completely disappears.
What can a stylish device? So, the list of functions consists of such items as a clock, a stopwatch, a heart rate monitor, a pedometer, a count of spent kilocalories, a sleep sensor, SMS reception and device search. Unfortunately, the realization of each of them is far from perfect. Let's go through each of the above functions.
1) Watch. Here, there are no problems, and the gadget adequately replaces the usual quartz or mechanical wristwatch.
2) Stopwatch - the situation is similar to the previous point.
3) Pulsometer. The device does its best to correctly calculate the number of heartbeats per minute, but there is a certain error (about 5 bpm in one or the other side). In addition, with a rapid increase in the heart rate (for example, with a fast running for a short distance or a pair of dozens of fast sit-ups), the displayed figures only gradually gain the actual value of heart beats per second. That is, the displacement from 60 to 110 beats occurs in 10-20 seconds, not once.
4) Pedometer. The bracelet can count not only the number of steps passed, but also translate this parameter into kilometers. To correct the indicator, you need to set in the WearFit 2.0 application a more or less accurate length of the middle step. Unfortunately, the accuracy of the measurement function can not boast either. Built-in ZTE Axon 7 pedometer more accurately determines the distance traveled (with real 200 passed the smartphone showed 198, the bracelet - 187), the tracker likes to reduce the values. On the other hand, for a person engaged in sports, such understatement can be a virtue, forcing to run long distances and achieve better results.
5) Calculation of the spent calories. This function follows the approximate rule - for every 0.1 km we write off 1 kilocalorie. Is this the correct ratio? For the answer it is necessary to address to experts-dieticians, at the author of the same unequivocal opinion is not present owing to its small knowledge in the given area.
6) Sleep sensor. So, let's start with indisputable pluses. The time of the total sleep device determines correctly. I really slept for about 5.5 hours. More or less correct are the moments of awakening. The ratio of light and difficult sleep is also prescribed, but its reality is much more difficult to verify. Well, let's believe the gadget!
7) Reception of SMS. The situation is ambiguous. With the reception of regular messages there are no problems, however the promised notifications of Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk (the author uses WhatsApp) do not work. Change the situation did not work out.
8) Device search. Function also differs "dampness" and flaws. Approximately 2 times out of 10, the smartphone really started to vibrate and play the ring tone, in other cases its reaction was zero.
Will not remain without criticism and software for the Android OS called WearFit 2.0. The Russian translation of the application without tears does not look, because of what to understand the functional of the program is quite difficult. However, the most basic functions such as sleep analysis, fatigue level, physical health assessment (the level of completed tasks) it successfully performs.
IP67-protection bracelet was checked by the minute of the gadget stay in a glass of water. After water procedures the patient continued to work all also effectively.
Bluetooth-connection tracker from smartphones is difficult to call really stable. Usually once in a couple of hours the phone "loses" the bracelet, because of which it is necessary again to launch its search through WearFit. The readability of the information on the display is not bad, however, in direct sunlight the image simply fades. Looking for a shadow, gentlemen. The Dials and Background menu allows you to change the form of displaying information on the screen, as well as the background. The gadget is controlled by one touch button (2 functions - normal pressing or long hold for moving through the main menu and input / output to / from its sub-items, respectively). It is responsive, false touches do not arise. The menu itself could be more optimized. For example, why it needs the heart rate, which is already displayed on the main screen, and the parameters of the MAC address of the tracker - is unclear. There is no Russian language.
For one day of using the bracelet, about 5% of the charge goes. Thus, the gadget should be charged only once every 20-25 days. It should be noted that for some users this figure barely exceeds 10 days. Apparently, the result directly depends on the frequency of the display and the time of its operation.
In the end, we got an eye-catching externally-designed tracker that can please a bright color screen, good functionality and excellent build quality, supplemented with IP67 protection. The disadvantages are the unfinished functionality of the set, the disgusting translation of software for the smartphone and the small thoughtfulness of the firmware of the fitness bracelet. His 15-20 dollars gadget is working hard, but the representative of the second generation of trackers Xiaomi Mi Band looks in the price category is definitely more interesting.
