Meizu 20 Infinity Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Meizu 20 Infinity Overview
Meizu 20 Infinity - the fairy tale did not come true?
The history of the Chinese company Meizu is worthy of a film adaptation. Once the industry leader, until recently, was on the verge of survival, and today, thanks to the purchase by the Geely concern, it has released a whole line of flagship smartphones, pleasing with both design and manufacturability. However, it is the most expensive representative of the updated series that raises the most questions, because some of its advertised features were not so impressive.
The appearance of the novelty was more interesting on promotional materials. So, the frames of the 6.79-inch display are still visible in reality to the naked eye, which is a little upsetting. However, otherwise, the combination of a metal edging, a stylish glass back panel, an original and at the same time almost not protruding photomodule block looks not only beautiful, but also original. Still close to the title of a frameless AMOLED screen meets the buyer with an outstanding resolution of 3192 x 1368 pixels, a 120-Hz picture refresh rate, and an accurate optical fingerprint sensor. But the main competitive advantages lie in the sky-high supply of 1800 nits of brightness, flawlessly calibrated color reproduction.
Of course, the expensive flagship was not without the appropriate technical specifications. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU is still the most powerful chipset for Android devices, so using it together with 12/16GB of RAM and the Adreno 740 video core can only evoke positive emotions. The user will be impressed not only by almost 1,300,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark, but also by the perfect functioning of all modern games, the lightning-fast launch of all applications and, what is really surprising, the energy efficiency of the processor. The 4800 mAh battery almost always lasts for a day and a half, and the battery also supports fast wired (65W) and wireless (50W) charging. There is no microSD slot, which should not be taken as a drawback of the device, because the cards cannot be compared in terms of speed with 256/512/1024GB UFS 4.0 ROM format.
With photographic capabilities, everything is no longer so clear. The 50-megapixel main Sony IMX766 photomodule with hybrid stabilization is quite good, but still it can be found in much more affordable alternatives. Daytime photos and videos deserve only praise, but evening shots still sometimes upset with noise. Fall short of those of camera phones and 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and telephoto lens with 2x zoom. The stereo sound is loud, quite balanced, but the device does not pull to replace a full-fledged Bluetooth speaker. NFC, infrared and 5G support are available, but there is no moisture protection according to IP68 standards, which is strange given the price category. Thus, the gadget is definitely worthy of attention, but its younger brothers have the best value for money.
