Meizu Lucky 08 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Meizu Lucky 08 Overview
Meizu Lucky 08 - is it lucky?
Almost all fans of mobile electronics have already forgotten about the Chinese company Meizu, but once the brand was almost one of the leaders in the industry. An excellent combination of price and quality of phones, original design, unusual proprietary software and many other competitive advantages turned the corporation's products into hits. However, those times are long gone, and the current rebirth of the company does not awaken an abundance of positive emotions. Why? It's simple - new products are quite mediocre.
The appearance of the hero of the review is, perhaps, its biggest plus. A truly frameless display is in stunning harmony with a truly beautiful block of photo modules, an interesting texture of the glass back panel. The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel impresses with a flagship-quality brightness of 5000 nits, an excellent resolution of 2780 x 1264 pixels for a diagonal, and an impressive refresh rate of 120 hertz. The color rendition is calibrated almost perfectly, there is also a built-in fingerprint scanner, and even the protective film has an oleophobic coating.
The technical specifications are represented by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor with support for 5G networks, 8GB/12GB of RAM and an Adreno 710 video adapter, which is quite good for the mid-price category. The bundle manages to achieve about 600 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark and cope with all resource-intensive gaming applications. However, Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero and similar resource-intensive projects will force you to set lower graphic presets. Autonomy is also not in question, because a capacious 6000 mAh battery is responsible for it. You will have to remember about sockets once every couple of days, but you need to spend about an hour and a half near it due to the charging power of 33 W. The size of the internal storage of 256/512 GB will suit most users, so there is no need to be sad about the lack of a slot for microSD cards.
But the situation with photo capabilities is rather deplorable. The 2-megapixel macro camera is frankly bad, and the main 108-megapixel sensor from Samsung did not receive optical stabilization. This fact negatively affects the detail of evening and night shots, the amount of noise in them. In addition, the developer saved on a wide-angle lens, on a telephoto lens. The stereo sound is good, loud, voluminous. But again, let's move on to the disadvantages. The focus on the Chinese market has deprived the gadget of contactless payments NFC, FDD-LTE B20 (needed for better 4G operation in Europe and the CIS), which is very disappointing. Thus, we have a technological and long-lasting device with a well-thought-out exterior, inferior to its competitors in price, photographic capabilities and a number of other indicators.
