Meizu Note 16 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Meizu Note 16 Overview
Meizu Note 16 - a potential hit for China
The Chinese company Meizu is trying its best to become the phoenix that rises from the ashes. However, for several years now, the manufacturer has not been particularly successful in this. The problem is both in the marketing campaign and in the products themselves. Most of the new phones did not impress with the price-quality ratio, but the hero of today's review is already noticeably more interesting than its predecessors in this criterion. It is a pity that the global version of the device is still in question.
The appearance of the new product is extremely attractive. A stylish block of photo modules, high-quality polycarbonate case, pleasing with a variety of colors and moisture protection according to the IP65 standard, a convenient side fingerprint scanner, not too wide screen frames allow the exterior to look expensive and beautiful. To contain the growth of the cost, the developer used a 6.78-inch IPS panel. This display is noticeably inferior to AMOLED analogs in peak brightness, which is why working with the device in direct sunlight is not always comfortable. However, the displayed image is devoid of the PWM effect, and also has a number of positive aspects, such as a high resolution of 2460x1080 pixels, an excellent refresh rate of 120 Hz and only minor errors in color rendering.
The technical characteristics include the UNISOC Tiger T765 (T8200) processor, 8 GB of RAM and the Mali G57-MC2 video accelerator. The chipset is very similar to the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 in its architecture. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the CPU scores almost 400 thousand points, the FlymeOS shell based on Android 15 is rarely subject to lags. Gaming capabilities are good against the background of opponents with a similar price tag. You can even expect to launch Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, but with minimal graphic presets. But what really pleases is the battery capacity of 6600 mAh. You can definitely not remember about the nearest sockets for a couple of days, while the charging power was an immodest 40W. 128/256 GB of permanent memory is allocated, you cannot expand the ROM with MicroSD cards.
But where you should not expect revelations is in the photo capabilities. 50- and 2-megapixel cameras are simple, lack optical stabilization and do not cope well with complex shooting scenarios like evening photo shoots. Capturing static objects during the day will most likely lead to detailed shots without excess noise. There is no stereo sound, one speaker will not let you miss an important call, but it is not suitable for listening to music with pleasure. The device has support for 5G networks, but there is no contactless NFC payments. In China, they are not used often, payment is made via QR codes. As a result, the gadget bypasses many competitors in terms of design, autonomy and performance, so sales are unlikely to be mediocre.
