Nothing Phone (4b) Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Nothing Phone (4b) Overview
Nothing Phone (4b) - the path to a lower price
The Chinese company Nothing is known in the smartphone market for the highly distinctive design of its products. However, the price tags for its devices were often higher than those of similarly specced peers. It seems the company has decided to accommodate its audience and make its new devices somewhat more affordable.
The design of this review subject is more than attractive. A small matrix display on the back for displaying battery level and notifications, an original design for the photo module block, a variety of colors, an unusual candybar texture, and thin screen bezels with an integrated fingerprint scanner make this device look both inexpensive and certainly stylish. The nearly 7-inch AMOLED panel has a standard FullHD+ resolution for a diagonal and a decent, but not particularly impressive, peak brightness of 2000 nits. Image visibility in direct sunlight remains, albeit not completely. Content is smooth at a 120Hz refresh rate, with minimal color errors. PWM is also handled well.
The technical specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and an Adreno 810 GPU. This combination is weaker than that of its more expensive predecessor (4a), but the 700,000 points achieved in the AnTuTu benchmark are sufficient for the stable Android 16 interface and low-to-mid-range graphics presets in all current resource-intensive games. Freezes and stutters will be rare, even if the graphical beauty isn't fully realized. The 5400mAh battery guarantees 8-10 hours of screen-on time. Users won't have to constantly worry about the location of nearby power outlets. There's no wireless charging; wired charging is rated at 50W. Internal storage is available in 128GB or 256GB configurations, with no expandable ROM.
The camera capabilities are good, but far from perfect. The secondary 8-megapixel wide-angle lens isn't useless, but it's still very basic, while the main 50-megapixel sensor with hybrid image stabilization handles both daytime and nighttime photography. Details are preserved, and noise and blur are less prominent than you might expect in a budget device. Stereo sound, NFC contactless payment, and 5G support round out the list of pluses, which lacks proper water resistance (only IP64) or premium build materials. Even without these, the device is a worthy choice in its price range.
