OUKITEL G2 - protected, but greatly simplified

The Chinese company OUKITEL tries to use its limited budget as rationally as possible. This is also expressed in the manufacturer's love for multiple re-releases of smartphones with slightly modified technical characteristics. Unfortunately, the desire to transfer the hero of today's review to a lower cost category led to a number of critical simplifications.

The appearance of the new product is similar to that of the previously released WP32. The dual camera block looks stylish, and the colors of the rubberized cases with moisture protection according to IP68 standards are also good. But the lack of a fingerprint scanner, thick screen frames and excessive dimensions of the monoblock already add to the list of exterior disadvantages. The 6-inch IPS display received HD+ resolution, the image clarity is average, but opponents in the price segment are not ready to offer anything else. The 500 nits brightness reserve is still insufficient for working with the device in direct sunlight, and there is no increased refresh rate. But the color rendition is quite natural.

The Unisoc Tiger T606 processor and Mali G57MC1 video adapter are a decent combination for low-budget devices, but its performance is limited by the RAM reduced to 4 GB. You should completely forget about resource-intensive games, and the number of simultaneously running applications is unlikely to exceed 5-10. Not particularly demanding projects like PUBG Mobile will be playable. The permanent memory is 64 GB, almost every user will have to expand it. There is a corresponding slot for MicroSD cards. But the autonomy has not been deteriorated. The 6300 mAh battery lasts for a couple of days, but the charging power is still ridiculous (10 W).

The photographic capabilities of the main 13 and 0.3-megapixel photo modules are depressing. They are useful for video calls, but even daytime shots are sometimes disappointing with noise, errors in color rendering, and overexposure. There is no stereo sound, but you can listen to your favorite music tracks with wired headphones. NFC contactless payments are left, without them the gadget would be completely uncompetitive. As a result, the device leaves mixed impressions due to the appearance of new shortcomings, but it will manage to find its fan.
