OUKITEL P1 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OUKITEL P1 Overview
OUKITEL P1 - a good, but not fully developed idea
The Chinese company OUKITEL is gradually improving the price-quality ratio in its products, although it cannot fully catch up with the market leaders. Thus, the hero of today's review opens a new line of smartphones from the manufacturer and significantly surpasses its previous mid-price segment solutions in functionality, but a number of minor shortcomings will still not bring the model into the category of hits.
The appearance of the new product is attractive, although almost completely copied from the Apple iPhone. This fact is given away by the familiar block of three photo modules, and the design of the 32-megapixel selfie camera. But the dimensions of the polycarbonate case, the presence of an under-screen fingerprint scanner and other colors of the rear panels indicate that the designers still tried to bring at least some share of originality to the exterior. The frameless 6.9-inch AMOLED display turned out to be quite decent. The peak brightness is not a record (more than 1000 nits), but it leaves the image visible on a sunny day, the FullHD+ resolution gives a clear picture, which is also smooth thanks to the 120-Hz refresh rate. Except that the color rendition is not always natural, and the PWM effect of the AMOLED panel is still present.
The technical characteristics are the well-known MediaTek Helio G99 CPU, 8 GB of RAM and the Mali G57-MC2 graphics adapter. The bundle has been around for many years, but it remains fantastically relevant even at the turn of 2024 and 2025. Performance of 350-400 thousand points in the AnTuTu test is enough for the responsive operation of Android 14. The average user will also be pleased with the speed of launching applications. But gamers can already criticize the processor. Resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact will be available for gameplay, but the graphics settings will be at minimum presets or so. And there is no 5G support. Autonomy is excellent thanks to the combination of the energy efficiency of the chipset and the 5150 mAh battery. You only need to look for outlets once every one and a half to two days. But fast charging at only 18W is disappointing, the battery will take almost a couple of hours to reach its full capacity. 256 GB of permanent memory is allocated, there is a slot for MicroSD cards.
Let's talk about photo capabilities. Additional 2 and 0.3-megapixel cameras can be ignored due to their uselessness, but the main 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor shows itself excellently in daytime photo sessions. Unfortunately, the developer saved on optical stabilization, so evening shots will sometimes be spoiled by noise, but the detail is usually maintained at a high level. There are no stereo speakers, which is disappointing, but for music lovers there is a jack for wired headphones. There are NFC contactless payments, and we can also add the gyroscope to the pros. As a result, we have a balanced, relatively inexpensive, but still problematic device in places, which will not be able to become a hit due to the abundance of shortcomings.
