OUKITEL WP23 Plus Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OUKITEL WP23 Plus Overview
OUKITEL WP23 Plus - an unnecessary addition
Releasing improved versions of popular smartphones is often an effective and profitable thing. Sometimes, the developer resorts to modifying the technical characteristics of not the most successful, but potentially competitive phones that simply need to work on their mistakes. The hero of today's review does not belong to either the first or the second case, which is why its very existence raises a number of questions.
The appearance of the new product is essentially completely transferred from its predecessor, which cannot be considered an advantage. The front panel with wide screen frames and archaic design of the 5-megapixel selfie camera is especially upsetting. The fingerprint scanner is present, but located at the back, which is already quite relevant, the exterior is saved only by a nice block of photo modules and a variety of case colors. The monoblock received moisture protection according to IP68 standards, but along with it, excessive dimensions. The 6.52-inch IPS display, unfortunately, has not been improved. The resolution of 1600x720 pixels does not provide the necessary image clarity with the mentioned diagonal, there is no increased image refresh rate, and the brightness reserve of 400 nits is rather puzzling.
But the performance has advanced. The UNISOC Tiger T606 CPU, 8 GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC1 video adapter are no longer considered the best combination for the price segment, but they are noticeably better than the old inexpensive processors from MediaTek. 250 thousand points in the AnTuTu test allow us to count on comfortable everyday use without an abundance of lags in the Android 14 OS. The list of games that can be launched with smooth gameplay has also expanded, but truly resource-intensive projects like Fortnite will not be included in it yet. The permanent memory is now 256 GB, there is even a slot for MicroSD cards. What can you store on such a volume of ROM? Where the device is still ready to give its opponents a run for their money is in autonomy. The 10600 mAh battery lasts for 3-4 days without any special compromises. The charging power is 18 W, you need to be near the outlet for about 5-6 hours.
The photo capabilities are simply mediocre. The oldest 13-megapixel Sony IMX135 sensor, 2-megapixel macro module and 0.3-megapixel portrait sensor are of little use for artistic photography. Flaws in color rendering, noise, blur will be frequent companions even of daytime photos and video files. Of course, there is no high-quality stereo sound here. But you can enjoy your favorite music at least with wired headphones. Also, the list of advantages is supplemented by contactless NFC payments. However, even with the competitive advantages indicated, it is difficult to close one’s eyes to the numerous disadvantages of this unique device.
