OnePlus 15 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OnePlus 15 Overview
The OnePlus 15 – More Than Just Improvements
Inflation has accelerated globally, making it difficult for even the largest manufacturers to maintain current prices. This is why developers are forced to resort to certain tricks. At first glance, the device we're reviewing seems to be an improvement over its predecessor in virtually every aspect. But upon closer inspection, compromises become apparent.
The new device's appearance has been updated, but the changes aren't entirely successful. The camera module appears somewhat simpler, and the tempered glass back panel has a minimalist design. However, the color options are stylish, the metal frame remains, and the display bezels with the integrated fingerprint scanner haven't increased in size. It's also worth noting that it's IP69 water-resistant. The 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display offers incredibly smooth images at a refresh rate of 165 Hz, an optimal, though not record-breaking for a diagonal, resolution of 2772x1272 pixels, natural color reproduction, and impressive brightness. It's difficult to find any obvious flaws.
The technical specifications are also impressive. The combination of the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 CPU, 12/16 GB of RAM, and Adreno 840 GPU scores just shy of four million points in AnTuTu, providing more than enough performance for 100-120 frames per second in the most demanding games at any graphics settings. The all-in-one PC generates minimal heat, as the full processor power isn't utilized. The battery capacity is now 7300 mAh, so you can forget about power banks or nearby outlets for a couple of days. It's nice to know there's no skimping on either wired (120W) or wireless (50W) charging. Storage options include 256/512/1024 GB.
But where the downgrade has occurred is in photography. The main 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 sensor is inferior to the previously used LYT-808, which is noticeable by the increased noise in evening photos. However, the sensor retains hybrid image stabilization, as does the high-quality 50-megapixel telephoto lens. The familiar 50-megapixel wide-angle lens no longer has OIS, so it delivers its best results during the day. Stereo sound remains loud and clear, and NFC contactless payments and 5G support remain. Thus, the device leaves a mixed impression, although at the asking price it still doesn't have many opponents.
