OnePlus 15T Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OnePlus 15T Overview
OnePlus 15T – Downsizing with Consequences
The Chinese company OnePlus has embraced the new trend in the smartphone market: compact flagship devices. However, the pursuit of cost reduction has negatively impacted the subject of today's review, although it remains competitive and an attractive purchase.
The appearance of the new device is quite impressive. The developer's signature design is immediately apparent, extending to both the camera module and the color scheme. A variety of tempered glass back panel colors, a metal-clad frame, thin screen bezels, impeccable ergonomics, and IP68 water resistance make the device practically a work of art. The 6.32-inch AMOLED panel also deserves numerous compliments. The 2640x1216 resolution is perfectly suited to the diagonal, boasting a near-record 165 Hz refresh rate, natural color reproduction, and peak brightness up to 3600 cd/m². At the same time, the display is very energy-efficient thanks to LTPO technology.
This compact design packs such powerful specs as the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, 12GB/16GB RAM, and an Adreno 840 GPU. Needless to say, the Android 16 interface runs smoothly, as do all games, no matter how resource-intensive. However, the cooling system isn't particularly well-suited to such a powerful processor, with significant throttling in benchmarks. It's barely noticeable during other operations, but the heat generated is noticeable. What's truly impressive, however, is the massive 7500 mAh battery. Battery life is excellent, often showing more than 10-12 hours of screen-on time in the statistics. Wired (100W) and wireless (50W) charging are both excellent. Storage options range from 256GB to 1024GB.
However, they've skimped on photography, albeit in a rather odd way. For example, the wide-angle lens has been completely eliminated. The main 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 sensor is also found in more affordable alternatives, and similar comments apply to the Samsung ISOCELL JN5 telephoto lens (3x optical zoom). Although both sensors feature hybrid stabilization, they don't perform as well as modern flagships for evening photo shoots. In some areas, they lack detail, while in others, they suffer from noise and other artifacts. The stereo sound is spacious and rich, and there are also welcome features like 5G support, eSIM, NFC, and an IR port for controlling home appliances. Overall, this is a well-balanced, functional, and technologically advanced device that justifies its asking price. However, those who appreciate high-quality photography are advised to consider other alternatives.
