OnePlus Ace 5 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OnePlus Ace 5 Overview
OnePlus Ace 5 - new advantages, old disadvantages?
The Ace line of smartphones from the Chinese company OnePlus has always been famous for its excellent technical characteristics and reasonable price. However, over time, the audience has become more and more demanding, so now buyers want good photographic capabilities, impressive battery life, and an abundance of other competitive advantages from mid-price segment phones. The hero of today's review tries to please potential users in every aspect, but the result still cannot be considered perfect.
The appearance of the new product is quite attractive. Yes, a certain saving in the form of a plastic frame is noticeable, but beautiful glass back panels with a signature round block of cameras, the thinnest display frames with a built-in fingerprint scanner and an extremely ergonomic shape of the case allow you to forget about such a minor drawback. The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel is not deprived of the relevant for the diagonal resolution of 2780x1264 pixels and, as a result, excellent image clarity. There is also excellent smoothness with an image refresh rate of 120 hertz, and realistic color rendition, and a brightness reserve of about 4500 nits.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is the chipset that, together with 12 GB / 16 GB of RAM and the Adreno 750 video adapter, will easily cope with any tasks for many years to come. The Android 14 interface amazes with its responsiveness, any applications open in a matter of seconds. And how happy gamers will be with the performance, because even the latest Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail function perfectly at maximum graphics settings. Of course, the device is not without an impressive ROM volume of 256/512/1024 GB of UFS 4.0 format. The 6415 mAh battery gives up to one and a half to two days of work with a mobile assistant, and fast wired charging at 80 W is not forgotten. But its wireless counterpart is left for the developer's flagships.
But the photo capabilities are rather disappointing. The main Sony IMX906 sensor in 50 MP with hybrid stabilization shoots at the same level. If daytime pictures are excellent literally 100% of the time, then the detail of evening photos and the amount of noise on them raises questions. A modest 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro module additionally prove to us the fact that the phablet in question is not a camera phone. But the stereo speakers are very loud, the resulting sound is voluminous and rich. There is also support for NFC contactless payments, 5G networks, and an IR port. Unfortunately, there is still no water protection according to IP68 standards. As a result, the device is more powerful than its predecessor and has a better AMOLED screen, but the usual disadvantages are still in place.
