OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition Overview
OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition - not like all the others
The Chinese company OnePlus was once considered a real revolutionary in the smartphone market. So, it was thanks to the first models of the brand that the phrase "flagship killer" appeared. However, the corporation gradually became more and more conservative, experiments were carried out less and less often due to potential losses. But still, sometimes the famous developer pleases us with unusual devices. And the hero of today's review is one of them.
The appearance of the new product is not bad, but not perfect. If the color schemes are stylish, and the updated block of photo modules will be loved even by sophisticated users, then the polycarbonate case is unlikely to appeal to fans of metal and tempered glass, and the side fingerprint scanner is more likely to be inherent in cheaper phones. But here lies one of the main differences between the phablet and its opponents. Instead of an AMOLED panel, a high-quality 6.77-inch AMOLED panel is installed here. There is simply no PWM effect, people sensitive to it can sleep peacefully. The peak brightness slightly exceeds the 1500 nit mark, so direct sunlight leaves the image partially visible. The image clarity is high at a resolution of 2392x1080 pixels, there is a 120 Hz refresh rate and realistic color rendition.
The technical specifications are represented by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor, 12 GB / 16 GB of RAM and a Mali-G720 Immortalis MP12 video accelerator. The bundle scores more than two million points in the AnTuTu test, so gamers with a not very impressive budget can take a closer look at the gadget. All modern games run at maximum graphics settings, while the frame rate is stable and impressive. There is no need to worry about battery life either, because thanks to the 7100 mAh battery it is brought up to ten hours of active screen time. There is no saving on the charging power, which is 80 W. It takes about 40-45 minutes to reach 100% battery charge at the outlet. The permanent memory is allocated 256/512 GB, there is no slot for MicroSD cards.
But it is difficult to recommend the device to mobile photographers. There is no telephoto lens or wide-angle module, only a portrait sensor and the main 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 camera, albeit with hybrid stabilization. Daytime photos are excellent, but evening shots are sometimes disappointing with noise, blurring, and color rendering errors. There is stereo sound, but there is almost no bass, the speakers are uneven in volume. As for NFC contactless payments and 5G network support, of course, they are in the unit. As a result, we have a very productive device with an excellent CPU, a beautiful exterior and a very affordable price tag. All of the above allows the manufacturer to count on a decent profit.
