OnePlus N6 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
OnePlus N6 Overview
OnePlus N6 – a great battery and that's it?
The Chinese company OnePlus, known for its high-quality, high-end smartphones, is still hoping to win the hearts of budget-conscious consumers. The manufacturer's previous efforts have included successful models, but there have also been plenty of commercial failures. And it seems that today's review subject is closer to a potential flop than a future hit.
The new device's appearance is not bad, but it's far from ideal. The gray and green matte finishes look stylish, and the camera module boasts a modern design. There's a convenient side-mounted fingerprint scanner, but the overall impression is marred by issues such as the lack of full water resistance and the thick bottom bezel. The 6.7-inch IPS display boasts a FullHD+ resolution, optimal for the technology and its diagonal size, and offers smooth images at a refresh rate of 120 Hz. However, it's hard not to notice the low brightness (600 nits), dull color reproduction, and issues with black level saturation.
The technical specifications also raise mixed feelings. The combination of a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a Mali G57-MC2 graphics adapter is focused more on energy efficiency than performance. A modest (by today's standards) 370,000-400,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark minimizes lag in the Android 16 interface, but the chipset's gaming capabilities are lackluster. The only real gameplay you can hope for is with low graphics presets and an unstable framerate. However, the 8000mAh battery delivers up to 12-15 hours of screen-on time, and you'll only need 60-70 minutes of charging with a 45W fast charger. 128GB/256GB of storage is available, with a microSD card slot.
The main 50-megapixel camera module without optical image stabilization and the 8-megapixel wide-angle lens are suitable for daytime photography, but they're simply not suited for other shooting scenarios. Unless, of course, the buyer is a big fan of noise or blur. Stereo sound is present, but unbalanced and not particularly loud. Among the advantages, we note support for 5G networks and NFC contactless payment. However, overall, this is a fairly ordinary device in this price range, notable only for its battery life. Perhaps more powerful or technologically advanced competitors would be worth considering.
