Oppo Reno 12 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Oppo Reno 12 Pro Overview
Oppo Reno 12 Pro is not a flagship, but a potential hit
Almost every generation of Reno-line smartphones from the Chinese company Oppo has found love among hundreds of thousands of customers, but there are still not many real bestsellers in the series. And this fact is more likely related to marketing, because most of the phones were distinguished by their beautiful design, advanced technical characteristics, and wide functionality. I would like to hope that the technologically advanced and stylish hero of today’s review will sell out in more impressive quantities.
Made of metal and tempered glass, the body is pleasing to the eye. The ergonomic shape, really beautiful colors of the rear panels, a modern camera unit, thin display frames with a built-in fingerprint scanner will leave a positive impression on even the most sophisticated esthete. The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen may not be the most perfect in terms of image clarity (resolution 2412x1080 pixels), but it is excellent in picture smoothness (120Hz refresh rate), color reproduction, and does not disappoint with a maximum brightness reserve (more than 1500 nits) . Of course, there is also a high-quality oleophobic coating.
The latest MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset is responsible for performance, which, together with 12GB/16GB of RAM and the Mali-G715 Immortalis MP11 video accelerator, provides almost one and a half million points in the AnTuTu benchmark. This result is more than enough for the extremely responsive Android 14 interface, as well as the successful playback of all existing games and applications. Fans of resource-intensive Genshin Impact, Fortnite or Wreckfest will be completely satisfied with the power of the reviewed gadget. Autonomy is also not a disadvantage of the phablet, because the number of hours of active screen time often exceeds 7-8 units. For this achievement we must thank the 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. 256/512GB of permanent memory are allocated, so the lack of a slot for MicroSD cards is not a drawback.
The main 50-megapixel (main Sony IMX890 photo sensor with hybrid stabilization and telephoto lens from Samsung) and 8-megapixel wide-angle modules do not make the device a top-end camera phone, but even an inexperienced mobile photographer can get a highly detailed evening shot. Advanced noise reduction, instant autofocus and optimized camera software make photography a pleasure. The stereo speakers are loud and will please you with the presence of bass. Of course, the device could not do without NFC contactless payments, support for 5G networks, and basic moisture protection according to IP65 standards. Unfortunately, there is no global version of the unit yet, so you will have to put up with a number of untranslated service applications and minor problems with notifications. But these are all trifles against the backdrop of the many advantages of a device sold at a reasonable price.
