Oppo Reno 16 Pro Overview
Oppo Reno 16 Pro: Achieving the Perfect Balance
The pinnacle of the updated Reno line of smartphones from the Chinese company Oppo is the Pro model. Its predecessors already offered excellent value for money, but it seems the subject of today's review has decided to take things a step further.
The new model's appearance is largely similar to that of its younger sibling, but the significantly larger display bezels, including the integrated fingerprint sensor, appear even thinner. It's hard not to fall in love with the variety of colors and textures of the glass back panels, the metal frame with IP68 water resistance, and the stylishly designed triple camera. The AMOLED display, now 6.78 inches, boasts an optimal, albeit not record-breaking, resolution of 2772x1272 pixels, so there's no room for complaint about content clarity. Other parameters are close to flagship standards, namely, smooth image quality (120 Hz refresh rate), peak brightness (3500 cd/m² thanks to AI), and realistic color reproduction. Also noteworthy are the almost complete absence of PWM and the excellent oleophobic coating.
The technical specifications are impressive. The combination of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, 12/16 GB of RAM, and the Mali Immortalis G925-MC12 GPU yields nearly three million points in the AnTuTu benchmark, resulting in flawless performance of the Android OS interface and all released games. The frame rate will be stable even in the notoriously resource-intensive Genshin Impact, regardless of the graphics presets. Battery life is hardly a concern, given the 7000 mAh battery. You'll only need to search for an outlet once every couple of days, and users have the choice of wired (80W) or wireless (50W) charging. Storage options are 256GB/512GB.
The camera capabilities show no obvious signs of skimping. The high-quality 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP5 main sensor and 50MP periscope telephoto lens (3.5x optical zoom) feature hybrid image stabilization, which improves the detail in photos and videos taken in low-light conditions or with multiple moving objects. Stereo sound has improved volume and clarity, and additional benefits include support for 5G networks and NFC contactless payments. A global version of the FDD-LTE B7, which isn't available yet, is expected. Thus, this is one of the most interesting devices in this price range, definitely worthy of attention.
