OUKITEL G7 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Oukitel G7 Overview
Oukitel G7 - All the Problems of Affordable Rugged Smartphones
The Chinese company Oukitel is gradually losing ground in the low-to-mid-price segment of the IP68 waterproof smartphone market. New products are increasingly unbalanced. The problems likely stem from both the rising price tags of components and the developer's own financial difficulties.
The appearance of today's review subject is unimpressive. The mesh texture of the rubberized back panel looks cheap, and it's hard not to notice the enormous thickness of the case and the wide screen bezels. The outdated design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera is also noticeable. Among the positive aspects, we note the variety of colors and the stylish camera module. The 6.52-inch IPS screen is frankly disappointing. The image lacks clarity at the low 1280x576 resolution, and content smoothness at the standard 60 Hz refresh rate is mediocre. All this is compounded by a paltry 400 nit peak brightness, making direct sunlight virtually impossible to see.
Technical specifications are somewhat better. The MediaTek Helio G85 processor, 4GB/8GB RAM, and ARM Mali G52MC2 graphics adapter are definitely not the best combination, even in this price range, but they do provide a more or less responsive Android 16 interface. AnTuTu scores of 230,000-250,000 are paltry by today's standards, so the chipset's gaming capabilities are limited. You'll have to make do with 2D projects or low-resource 3D games with significantly reduced graphics settings. Battery life, however, is beyond reproach. The battery capacity has been increased to 10600 mAh, so you only need to search for an outlet every 3-4 days. However, the 18W charging power is far from powerful.
The photography capabilities are simply poor. The 13-megapixel main sensor and 2-megapixel macro lens barely cope with document shots in good daylight. Other photo scenarios aren't recommended, as photos and videos will be riddled with noise and blur. There's also no rich stereo sound. The single speaker isn't loud, and bass is almost nonexistent. However, there is a dedicated headphone jack. NFC contactless payments are also a plus. Overall, this is a device riddled with flaws that's unlikely to achieve commercial success.
