Oukitel WP20 - a useless continuation of the series

The WP-series of rugged smartphones from the Chinese Oukitel company has always raised certain questions even among the manufacturer's loyal fans. So, directly by the number of a smartphone, it is simply impossible to guess its price category and, as a result, performance and functionality levels. The hero of today's review received a beautiful number "twenty" in the title, but in reality it is one of the most unpretentious and unattractive representatives of the line.

The design of the novelty may be liked only by the colors and design of the main dual camera. The predominance of inexpensive plastic, the huge frames of the IPS display, the large dimensions of the case with mediocre ergonomics will definitely not cause delight. There is even no fingerprint sensor. Such shortcomings can't be justified only by moisture protection (IP68). The 5.93-inch IPS screen is endowed with HD + resolution, but the small diagonal saves you from potentially loose and blurry pictures. But in terms of brightness and contrast, the display does not set records, the direct rays of the sun seriously reduce the visibility of content.

The technical characteristics are represented by a low-performance and rather old Mediatek Helio A22 processor, 4GB of RAM and a PowerVR 8320 video core. The gaming capabilities of the chipsets are modest, you can only play low-demanding 3D projects like World Of Tanks Blitz at low graphics presets, or 2D casual titles. Even in the Android 12 interface jamming and general thoughtfulness of the device are often noticeable. The energy efficiency of the CPU is average, but this is clearly not a drawback with a battery capacity of 6300mAh. You won’t have to think about charging for a day and a half or two, but when its time comes, it is recommended to leave the phablet at the outlet for the night, since the recharging process takes about 5-6 hours. Only 32GB of internal storage is allocated, so you just need to use the microSD card slot.

20- and 2-megapixel cameras will help you shoot a text document or take a photo on memory in ideal or close to ideal lighting conditions. But it should be understood that budget sensors are not able to cope with other shooting scenarios. Noise, smearing, incorrect color rendition - this is a partial list of problems received. There are no contactless NFC payments, there is no stereo sound, and support for 5G networks. The price tag of the device, with all its disadvantages, could also be more reasonable. Thus, the considered gadget came out very controversial.
