OUKITEL WP55 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Oukitel WP55 Overview
Oukitel WP55 - minor steps forward
The mid-price segment of smartphones with water protection according to IP68 standards has stagnated for quite a long time in terms of technical characteristics. The same chipsets and photo modules have already become boring even for the most loyal fans of mobile electronics. Of course, such a situation could not go unnoticed by phone manufacturers. Thus, the Chinese company Oukitel tried to make the hero of today's review noticeably more relevant according to the specified parameters. It turned out not perfect, but not bad.
The appearance of the new product is similar to that of the previously released WP35 due to a similar camera unit. However, the texture of the back panel is now noticeably nicer. The side fingerprint scanner is in place. But the front surface is frankly disappointing with both thick screen frames and the design of the 32-megapixel selfie camera. The 6.58-inch IPS screen boasts a resolution of 2408x1080 pixels, an excellent 120 Hz refresh rate. But at the same time, the outdated technology does not imply a huge reserve of brightness, and the color rendition is faded against the background of AMOLED analogs.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7025 processor is approximately 20-25% more productive than the previously widely used Helio G99 chips. It already supports 5G networks, and together with 12 GB of RAM and an IMG BXM-8-256 video accelerator, it scores almost 500 thousand points in the AnTuTu test. This result suggests that lags in the Android 15 interface will be rare, and most existing Android games will function without problems on the device. Of course, in the most resource-intensive projects, it is necessary to reduce the graphic settings. The permanent memory is 256 GB, and the developer did not remove the slot for MicroSD cards. Of course, the autonomy of the phablet should also be praised. The 11000 mAh battery almost always provides 3-4 days of active interaction with the device. The charger has a power of 33 W, today such a value is not very impressive.
The photo capabilities of the main 108-megapixel Samsung HM6 sensor are higher than the basic ones. Yes, there is no optical stabilization, but even evening shots sometimes come out detailed and without an abundance of noise. Daytime shooting does not cause serious complaints in 99% of cases. But the auxiliary modules are not amazing. The 8-megapixel black and white night vision photosensor is unlikely to be used often, and even then for entertainment, and the 2-megapixel macro camera is practically useless and is installed rather for beauty. Stereo sound has bypassed the device, but the large single speaker still copes with its duties with dignity. We also note the presence of contactless payments NFC, so important for modern buyers. Thus, before us is an object of the evolution of protected IP68 smartphones, quite worthy of attention.
