Samsung Galaxy A17 4G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Samsung Galaxy A17 4G Overview
Samsung Galaxy A17 4G - Find the differences with a magnifying glass
The Korean company Samsung is known all over the world, including thanks to its high-end smartphones. However, if this year the manufacturer did not disappoint with its phones in the middle and high price segments, then there are many questions about the representatives of the lower price category. For example, the hero of today's review will definitely be criticized.
Similarly to the 5G version, the new product has not undergone major changes in terms of design. It is easy to confuse it with its predecessor due to the similar shape and dimensions of the case, the outdated form factor of the 13-megapixel selfie camera, and the same plastic back panel. Among the positive aspects, we highlight the side fingerprint scanner, a neat triple camera unit and stylish colors of the monoblocks. The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen can please with a good FullHD+ resolution for a diagonal, smooth content at a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The color rendering is relatively natural, the brightness reserve for the applied technology is not outstanding, but sufficient for most scenarios (1000 nits). But the PWM effect is clearly expressed, people sensitive to it are unlikely to like the AMOLED display.
The technical characteristics are the same as before. I would like to see something more interesting than the Mediatek Helio G99 CPU, 4GB/8GB RAM and the Mali G57-MC2 video core. The performance of about 400 thousand points in the AnTuTu test is not terrible, but for modern resource-intensive games like Zenless Zone Zero it is already not enough, and there is no support for 5G networks. Autonomy is good, although the device has a 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery. You can safely count on a day and a half of work with a mobile assistant. The charging power is 25W. It is difficult to praise it, because Chinese opponents are ready to boast of figures even in 67W. The constant memory can be allocated 128 or 256 GB, there is a slot for microSD cards.
Photo capabilities have advanced a little. The 5-megapixel wide-angle lens and 2-megapixel macro camera are still mediocre, but the 50-megapixel main sensor has acquired optical stabilization. This fact has an excellent effect on the clarity of photos taken in poor lighting conditions. Blurring and noise will still be in the resulting pictures, but in smaller quantities. There is no stereo sound, there is only one speaker, but for music lovers, a separate headphone jack has been left. NFC contactless payments are in place, the process of paying for purchases in hypermarkets has been noticeably simplified. As a result, the device under review cannot be considered unsuccessful, but its competitiveness today is in great question.
