Samsung Galaxy M14 5G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Samsung Galaxy M14 5G Overview
Samsung Galaxy M14 5G - one step away from being a hit
The Korean company Samsung has vast experience in creating phones and smartphones, thanks to which it is a recognized industry leader. However, even experienced developers fail. Sometimes from under their conveyor can come out both frankly passable devices, uninteresting to the audience, and good models that lack just a couple of changes to potentially grandiose success. This was the novelty under consideration.
The hero of the review does not claim to be the most beautiful gadget in the price category. A triple block of cameras, a side fingerprint scanner and a variety of body colors look decent, but the impression of the exterior is spoiled by thick display bezels, outdated selfie camera design, inexpensive and not very tactile plastic of the back panel. The 6.5-inch IPS screen also has a number of drawbacks. The main one is a modest margin of brightness, noticeably inferior to that of AMOLED counterparts. Praise the same IPS-panel will turn out for a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, a 90-Hz refresh rate. I don’t want to find fault with the smoothness and clarity of the image at all.
Specifications evoke more positive emotions. The latest 5G-enabled Exynos 1330 CPU, 8GB RAM, and Mali G68MC2 GPU outperform many alternatives from MediaTek and Qualcomm, delivering close to 400K points in the AnTuTu benchmark. The performance is enough for the responsive and smooth interface of Android 13, quite wide and gaming experience. The user will be able to try out WreckFest, Genshin Impact and other resource-intensive titles at low-medium graphics settings. The energy efficiency of the chipset helps to get about a day and a half of active screen time from a 5000mAh battery. Only the power of fast charging at 15W upsets, because of which it will take more than two hours to be at the outlet.
50- and 2-megapixel sensors are unlikely to please a real amateur photographer. Auxiliary modules are simply useless, while the main camera is good for daytime photo shoots, but not for evening ones. The problem lies both in the lack of optical stabilization and in cheap optics. There is no stereo sound, the mono speaker is not quiet, but mediocre in terms of frequency response. Enjoying music is hardly possible. Contactless NFC payments improve the appearance of the device, but the listed shortcomings do not allow us to unequivocally recommend it for purchase.
