Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Overview
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra - a great but boring flagship
The S-series of smartphones from the Korean company Samsung has been extremely popular among all fans of portable electronics for more than a decade. The original design, proprietary software, and decent price-quality ratio are still preserved in the lineup to this day, but there are fewer and fewer radical changes between generations. There are not many reasons to change the previous model for the hero of today's review.
The appearance of the new product has hardly changed. The shape of the case made of glass and metal with familiar sharp corners, the presence of a stylus, not the widest, but still not quite thin display frames with a built-in ultrasonic fingerprint sensor were supplemented only by updated colors of the rear panels. Water protection according to IP68 standards has not disappeared, for which the developers should definitely be praised. As for the 6.9-inch AMOLED panel, it fully corresponds to the status of a phablet. The high resolution of 3120x1440 pixels is enough for excellent image clarity, and it is difficult to find fault with its smoothness at a 120 Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness exceeds 2600 nits, and color errors are virtually absent. The touch panel is extremely responsive and has an effective oleophobic layer.
The technical specifications are presented by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12 GB / 16 GB of RAM and the Adreno 830 video core. The results in synthetic tests have increased by 30% (about three million points in the AnTuTu benchmark), but in games it is difficult to notice the difference with the previous CPU, because even Genshin Impact worked perfectly at maximum graphics settings. The situation, of course, has not changed. Throttling is not significant, energy efficiency is not in question. The 5000mAh battery will provide the user with about one and a half days of active use of the mobile assistant. However, the capacity could be increased to suit modern trends. The same applies to the power of wired charging at 45W. Its wireless counterpart supports chargers up to 15W. The permanent memory is allocated 256/512/1024 GB.
Photo capabilities cannot be said to have advanced. Of course, it is difficult to find many shortcomings in daytime and evening photos taken with the main 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 sensor, 50- and 10-megapixel telephoto lenses from Sony (3 and 5x optical zoom), a 50MP wide-angle lens, but the detail of the frames in the best photo flagships is still higher. All modules, except the last one, received hybrid stabilization. Stereo sound can only be praised, in terms of volume and frequency response uniformity it is similar to those of inexpensive Bluetooth speakers. Contactless payment NFC, the latest Android 15, support for 5G networks and eSIM add to the list of advantages of a balanced, technological device that still does not stand out much from its competitors.
