TECLAST T50 Max Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
TECLAST T50 Max Overview
TECLAST T50 Max - squeezing out the maximum
Sometimes it is so difficult to surpass your own product, which is enjoying great popularity. The Chinese company TECLAST faced exactly this problem. The T50 Pro tablet differed from its opponents in its excellent assembly, and productive technical characteristics, and decent autonomy. It is almost impossible to create an even more impressive model with a similar price even today. However, an experienced developer was still able to cope with this task. Meet the newest TECLAST T50 Max.
Brief characteristics of Teclast T50 Max:
Case materials: front panel - glass, back panel - metal;
- screen: IPS technology, 11-inch diagonal, resolution 1920x1200 pixels, refresh rate 90Hz;
- processor: MediaTek Helio G99, video chip: Mali-G57 MC2;
- RAM/ROM: 8GB (+12GB due to ROM) / 256GB;
- operating system: Android 14;
- battery: 8000mAh, 20W charger;
- main camera: 13MP + 0.3MP;
- front camera: 8MP;
- sound: stereo speakers, 4 pcs;
- navigation: GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo;
- dimensions and weight: 257.1 x 169.2 x 7.9 mm, 524 g.
Any acquaintance with a new gadget begins with its unpacking and analysis of the package. Here the manufacturer did not reinvent the wheel and equipped the new product with the most necessary accessories. Inside the box made of thick white cardboard we can find:
- TECLAST T50 Max tablet;
- USB Type-C cable;
- 20W charger;
- paper clip for opening the SIM tray;
- user manual;
- warranty card.
It should also be noted that the tablet display has a protective film that will temporarily protect the screen from scratches and chips. Perhaps the only criticism of the package is the lack of headphones, but most of the device's opponents cannot boast of them either.
Tablet package rating, taking into account the price category: 4.5 out of 5.
The appearance of the new product resembles that of the recently released TECLAST T50HD. The updated dual camera unit, metal back panel, modest body thickness make a positive impression. The tablet weighs just over 500 grams, which means you won't feel any discomfort even after working with the device for an hour. Let's look at the layout of the controls and other functional connectors:
- Top edge: power and volume buttons, microphone hole;
- Right edge: SIM card tray, USB Type-C port; holes for two speakers;
- Angle between the right and bottom edges: 3.5mm jack for wired headphones;
- Bottom edge: microphone hole;
- Left edge: holes for two speakers.
As for the exterior's shortcomings, these include not the thinnest display frames. Still, in 2024, I would like to see a different design for the front panel of the tablet. Unfortunately, it is on it that the user's gaze will be directed most of the time.
Tablet design rating given the price category: 4 out of 5.
The display of the Teclast T50 Max tablet is in many ways similar to that of the T50 Pro model. It's not just about the same diagonal. Approximately the same image clarity at an almost identical resolution of 1920x1200 pixels, similar color rendering settings, familiar image behavior under direct sunlight cause a feeling of déjà vu. However, the new IPS panel has one undeniable advantage - an increased image refresh rate of 90 Hz. Improved image smoothness is noticeable both when interacting with the Android 14 OS interface and in the browser, instant messengers and similar applications. The situation is more complicated with games, because we are not dealing with a flagship mobile device. As for the correspondence of the diagonal and resolution, it is possible to see individual pixels only from a very close distance, which does not correspond to the real operating conditions of the tablet. At tilt angles, the picture is not distorted, it only loses brightness, which is the norm for IPS technology. Color rendering has a slight bias towards warmth, which allows you to work with the device longer without eye fatigue. Auto brightness usually works correctly, although not too quickly. The adaptation process to new lighting conditions usually takes about 3-4 seconds. The sensor has difficulties only with mediocre room lighting, sometimes you have to manually increase the brightness level to comfortable values. Perhaps the only drawback of the display is the visibility of the image in direct sunlight. If you want to see the picture, it is still possible, but it is better to look for shade.
Rating of the tablet display taking into account the price category: 4.5 out of 5.
The technical characteristics include the extremely popular MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8 GB of RAM (it is possible to increase it by another 12 GB by expanding from ROM), and the Mali G57MC2 video accelerator. The bundle has already managed to visit dozens, if not hundreds of different devices, which is why some users are frankly tired of it. However, there are still few inexpensive alternatives to the chipset, it is still relevant for most tasks and perfectly combines performance and energy efficiency. Let's look at the processor's results in tests.
- AnTuTu Benchmark v10 - 406802 points;
- GeekBench 6 - 711 points in single-core testing, 1862 points in multi-core testing;
- CPU Throttling Test - 184 GIPS, throttling 22%.
Gamers will be interested in the functionality of modern games on the device. Let's launch several current gaming projects of varying resource intensity.
PUBG Mobile is the oldest representative of the selection, but millions of users still play it. The reason for its popularity is the exciting gameplay, combined with excellent optimization of applications. Although the graphics are not rich in effects, an abundance of multi-polygon detailed objects, it attracts attention with an amazing range of drawing the environment, realistic textures. With high graphics settings and a high framerate in the settings, we get extremely smooth gameplay with very rare freezes when loading large parts of the location.
Tank Company is a noticeably more demanding game. The project largely copies World Of Tanks for personal computers, which is easy to notice by the similar scale of tank battles and map architecture. TC impresses not only with its detailing, but also with realistic detailed textures, and a physics-correct calculation of all shell hits. With medium graphics settings and a framerate of 30FPS, we get fairly smooth gameplay with rare FPS drops to 20-24 in action-packed battles.
Surprisingly, even almost 4 years after its release, Genshin Impact remains the most resource-intensive and at the same time beautiful game project for Android OS. In one of the latest updates, the developer improved the detailing of textures, the quality of effects and the drawing range of locations, due to which sometimes the game can easily be confused with analogues on full-fledged consoles of the current generation. Of course, such a picture requires the corresponding power of the device. TECLAST T50 MAX is able to cope with Genshin with a hybrid of low and medium graphics settings and a frame rate limit of 30FPS. Unfortunately, with fast camera movements and large-scale battles, the frame rate still drops, but this moment does not cause serious discomfort.
Tablet performance rating given the price category - 4.5 out of 5.
It is worth saying a few words about the software. Unlike the T50 Pro, its successor already runs on the updated Android 14, but still without any visible improvements. No serious bugs were found during several days of operation, or the Google Play Market application crashed in the first few hours. It is not entirely clear what this was connected with. Instead of the standard file manager, call manager and photo viewer, Google applications are used. For some, this fact will be an advantage of the device, for others - a disadvantage. There have been no software updates yet, but the Teklast company usually releases several patches for its devices to eliminate bugs. As for the translation of the settings menu, camera application and other things, no problems were found. Scrolling between desktops is quite smooth, the shell does not function as fast as a flagship, but is quite responsive.
Rating of the operating system optimization taking into account the price category - 4.5 out of 5.
The photographic capabilities of tablets, even in the high price category, rarely please. The lag in cameras from smartphones at the same price is always noticeable. TECLAST T50 Max is not an exception to the rule, but the tablet is more than good compared to its competitors. With its help, it is more than possible to take high-quality daytime photos with good detail. I was pleased with the fact that there were practically no exposure errors, autofocus worked correctly in 99% of cases. Of course, it is better to avoid more complex shooting scenarios like evening photo sessions with installed cameras.
Examples of daytime shooting of the main photo modules
The front 8-megapixel camera is very simple, it is difficult to take high-quality selfies with it, but it is quite suitable for video calls.

Rating of photographic capabilities taking into account the price category - 4 out of 5.
The sound of the four speakers installed in the TECLAST T50 Max tablet turned out to be decent, although not excellent. The volume peaks at 89 dB, but it is possible to achieve a pleasant sound without distortion and with audible bass by reducing the volume to 82-84 dB. Rich instrumental music, of course, is not intended for this kind of device, but it is quite possible to enjoy pop music or electronics with such stereo sound. As for wireless headphones, there is good and bad news. The good news is that there is an LDAC codec, TWS headsets with its support will reveal their full potential. The bad news is that there is no aptX codec, if your favorite wireless headphones worked on it, you will have to switch to simpler SBC / AAC. But there is also a jack for wired headphones, which is rare today.
Rating of the tablet's capabilities in terms of sound reproduction - 4.5 out of 5.
The battery life of the device does not disappoint. The 8000 mAh battery is installed for a reason. Thanks to the energy-efficient MediaTek Helio G99 chipset and a fairly optimized Android 14, we get more than 12 hours of operation of the PCMark Work 3.0 Battery Life Test benchmark with screen brightness at 50% and speaker volume at the same 50%. The result is above average in the price segment, but slightly lower than that of the TECLAST T50 Pro. However, this situation has a logical explanation in the increased refresh rate of the image. In everyday use, you can count on about a day of operation of the device with 7 hours of active screen time. As for resource-intensive games, we have the following results:
about 4 hours of gameplay in Genshin Impact (the battery lost 25% in an hour);
about 6 hours of gameplay in Tank Company (the battery lost 16% in an hour);
approximately 7.5 hours of gameplay in PUBG Mobile (the battery lost 13% in an hour).
The charging power is 18W, although the kit includes a 20W charger. You will have to spend a little less than three hours at the outlet for a full charge.
Battery rating given the price category - 4.5 out of 5.
Let's move on to assessing the quality of communication. TECLAST T50 Max supports the installation of two SIM cards, which provides the ability to make voice calls and receive SMS messages. It should be noted that, unlike smartphones, the interlocutor's speech will be heard exclusively through the speakerphone. It will not be easy to hide the topic of conversation from people around you. The timbre of the interlocutor's voice is transmitted well, and there were no complaints about the quality of the microphones on the other side. As for the LTE connection, it is inferior in strength to that of phones in the middle (Realme GT2) and high (Honor Magic 6 Pro) price segments. Where indoors compact devices catch 4G+, the hero of the review can switch to 2G/3G. But such situations are not frequent. There is no difference in WiFi connection, the tablet does not lose connection with the modem even through two walls and about seven meters from the router. The GPS connection is also pleasing. Even in an apartment building, the GPS Test program showed some results, and when going out into relatively open terrain, the device connected to 35 satellites and provided excellent navigation accuracy.

The communication rating considering the price category is 4.5 out of 5.
