Teclast T50 Pro - incredibly balanced

Tablets at the turn of the low and middle price segments have become much more popular over the past few years. A significant role in this process was played by the Chinese company Teclast, which has essentially become the leader of this cost category. The corporation has become one of the few manufacturers ready to demonstrate time after time the excellent value for money in their products. However, the demanding audience now wants better performance and functionality from inexpensive devices. And the hero of today's review called Teclast T50 Pro meets these demands, if not exceeds them.

Getting acquainted with the tablet will be on a positive note. The white box made of dense cardboard contains not only the gadget, but also a decent charger with 18W power, USB Type-C cable, a paper clip for removing the SIM card tray, user manual, protective film, already applied to the display of the device. Of course, the main positive emotions are caused by the Teclast T50 Pro itself thanks to the elaborate design. The rear metal panel pleasantly cools the palm and pleases the eye not only with a successfully selected gray color scheme, but also with a dual camera with LED flash. On the front there is an 11-inch IPS-display, the bezels of which amounted to about 8.5 mm. This is a good figure for an affordable tablet. On the upper frame there are volume buttons, power button, microphone outputs. The left edge contains holes for a pair of speakers, the right side is also characterized by them. However, it also has a USB Type-C port, a tray for SIM cards/MicroSD-card. At the bottom there is a single microphone. Thus, the device's equipment and its appearance deserve high marks.

Let's talk about the display of the device. The 11-inch IPS-display has a resolution of 2000x1200 pixels, which is perfectly reflected in the clarity of the picture. Individual pixels are invisible to the naked eye. There are no strong claims to the transmission of colors. The picture is saturated, perhaps, only the white color slightly gives into warmth. Perhaps, only the maximum brightness level can cause dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, IPS-panels in this parameter are much inferior to more expensive AMOLED-analogs. If indoors working with the mobile assistant does not cause the slightest discomfort, then outside in the direct rays of the summer sun the image loses most of its visibility, you have to look for a shadow. On the other hand, the minimum brightness values are fine for working with the tablet in the dark. There is auto-brightness, it works quite correctly. Only under certain lighting conditions, the brightness level can be lower than comfortable values, but such situations rarely happened. Oleophobic coating of the protective film is weak, almost absent. There is also no protective glass. In summary, in front of us is a good for the price segment IPS-panel without critical shortcomings, which helped to keep a reasonable cost of the tablet.

Teclast T50 Pro is noticeably better than its predecessors in terms of specifications. The MediaTek Helio G99 processor is noticeably superior to the previously used chipsets from UNISOC in terms of both performance and power efficiency. 8gb RAM and Mali G57MC2 graphics adapter help to unlock the full potential of the CPU. The equally famous GeekBench benchmark showed a CPU performance of 712 points in single-core mode and 1,870 points in multi-core testing.

The CPU Throttling Test benchmark is aimed not only at determining the CPU performance, but also at studying its stability under maximum loads. A 30-minute test with 100 threads resulted in the result of 201.32 GIPS. The performance drop amounted to 5%, which means that there is actually no trotting.

Let's start with the most popular online shooters. PUBG Mobile has been one of the leading positions in terms of the number of people playing daily for more than five years. Helping the project not to lose ground is interesting gameplay with a focus on collecting weapons, armor and other items, close and long-range combat, still pleasing to the eye graphics with a high range of drawing. With high graphics presets the game runs smoothly, the minimal pinging is noticeable only when reloading large parts of the location, they occur rarely.

The most resource-intensive project for Android is still Genshin Impact. The large open world, extremely detailed characters, abundance of objects and effects on the screen make even high-performance flagship chipsets strain. At low graphics settings and at the limit of 45 frames per second we have a slightly blurred, not the most detailed picture, which sometimes disappoints with frizzes. They occur when the camera moves sharply or there are a lot of special effects. However, gameplay with a slight stretch can be considered comfortable.

If the user wants to get nostalgic for the old days, there is a PSP handheld game console emulator called PPSSPP. The CPU power is sufficient for 99% of games to function at 3x the real resolution of the console. It is necessary to touch upon the software of the tablet. The device operates on the Android 13 operating system without noticeable improvements on the part of the manufacturer. Translation of menu items, camera application is complete, no critical bugs were found during the operation of Teclast T50 Pro. Only once hung Google Chrome application, but in this situation it is necessary to criticize rather the browser itself, as problems with it are common on other devices. Instead of the standard file manager, call manager and photo viewer, Google applications are used. For some people this fact will be a plus of the device, for others - a significant disadvantage. As for the cameras, the basic 20- and 2-megapixel photo modules are still far from analogs in smartphones with a similar price policy. Unfortunately, the situation is unlikely to ever change, because in tablets most of the production cost goes to a large display and performance of technical characteristics. However, and installed inexpensive photosensors are endowed with a fairly fast focusing, LED flash. This allows the cameras to take clear document shots and also have some potential for daytime photo shoots. Unfortunately, not everything is easy because of the low dynamic range of colors. Photos quite often come out over-lit or, on the contrary, too dark, the photographer will have to manually adjust the exposure. The 8-megapixel frontal photomodule is also quite simple, it is needed for video calls rather than for selfies to social networks.

The Teclast T50 Pro has four speakers at once to create excellent stereo sound. As a result, the maximum volume reaches almost 95dB in peaks, but the most balanced sound with a clearly audible bass is at 83-85dB. In general, the tablet even provides an opportunity to listen to your favorite musical compositions without any discofmort, if we are talking about pop music, rap, uncomplicated electronic genres. There is no connector for wired headphones, which is disappointing. Mifo O5 II Gen 2 participated in the test of wireless headphones. Unfortunately, AptX codec is not supported by the tablet, so only SBC and AAC were offered. The sound in the end is a bit easier in the treble area, if we make a comparison with the Realme GT2 smartphone, but the difference is not so great.

I was pleasantly surprised by the tablet's autonomy. Quite capacious battery of 8000mAh is perfectly combined with optimized Android 13 and energy-efficient processor from MediaTek, so it is easy to count on about a day of work with the device with 7-8 hours of active screen time. These words are confirmed by the PCMark Work 3.0 Battery Life Test benchmark, which at a display brightness of 50% and speaker volume of 50% showed a result of 14 hours and 12 minutes. Of course, not without some shortcomings. Thus, charging power amounted to the same 18W as in previous Teclast products. Due to the increased battery capacity, you will have to stay at the socket for about three hours.

For many buyers, the quality of communication will also be an important parameter. Teclast T50 Pro supports up to two SIM cards, there is the ability to make calls and receive SMS. Like the vast majority of tablets, there is no separate speaker, so the speech of the interlocutor will be delivered by the main four speakers. Hearing is excellent, but you will not be able to hide the topic of conversation from others. Interlocutors in test calls did not complain about the quality of speech, did not immediately realize that communication is not through a smartphone. LTE-connection is similar to that of the previously mentioned Realme GT 2, but the Wi-Fi connection is slightly weaker. Through 2 walls and about 7-8 meters from the router, the Internet actually did not work, while the smartphone was still loading pages.

The last one to consider was GPS navigation. You can see the results of its testing on the screenshots below. There are no records of accuracy, but using Teclast T50 Pro as a navigator on a trip is quite possible.
