UMIDIGI BISON X20 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
UMIDIGI BISON X20 Overview
UMIDIGI BISON X20 - an outdated model or a current classic?
The Chinese company Umidigi cannot be called one of the most popular or successful smartphones on the market, but the developer is trying his best to stay afloat. In recent years, the manufacturer’s financial performance cannot be considered impressive, so the expansion of the range has to be done both through new devices and the actual re-release of old ones. The hero of today's review is essentially a restyling of the X10 phone, but should this fact be considered as a drawback given the affordable price of the unit? Let's try to figure it out.
The appearance of the new product is quite good for an inexpensive device protected from dust and moisture according to IP68 standards. Reasonable weight, a relatively ergonomic shape of the rubberized body, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a stylish camera block distract from the large screen frames and the design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera straight out of 2018. The 6.53-inch IPS display is rather disappointing. The resolution of 1600x720 pixels is not enough for picture clarity, there is no increased image refresh rate, and the displayed content loses visibility in direct sunlight due to the modest maximum brightness of 500 nits.
The situation is better with technical characteristics. The MediaTek Helio P60 processor, although older, is still capable, together with 6GB of RAM and the MaliG72MP3 video adapter, to ensure smooth functioning of the Android 13 interface. Many undemanding programs launch quickly, function without freezes and lags, with gaming applications it is increasingly more difficult. You won’t have to expect a stable framerate in Genshin Impact even with minimal graphic presets. 128GB of permanent memory is allocated; if desired, it can be expanded with a MicroSD card. The autonomy is not a record for this type of device, but a 6000 mAh battery is enough for 9-10 hours of active screen time. The charging power was only 10W, so you need to stay at the outlet for a long time.
The photo capabilities of the main 20- and 5-megapixel photo modules are not particularly wide. In addition to successfully capturing documents, the user will be able to take daytime photographs of static objects. Of course, such shots can only be obtained in good lighting. There is no stereo sound, but you can enjoy your favorite music using wired headphones. NFC contactless payments are present, shopping in supermarkets will be completed in the blink of an eye. The final impression of the Android smartphone is average. It cannot be definitely recommended for purchase due to its mediocre cameras and IPS panel. However, a durable and autonomous phablet will still find its client.
