UMIDIGI G1 Plus Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
UMIDIGI G1 Plus Overview
UMIDIGI G1 Plus - the path from the assembly line to oblivion
It seems that things are not going well for the Chinese company Umidigi. The manufacturer decided to start 2024 by re-releasing its old models with minor cosmetic and other changes. However, in the case of the hero of today’s review, even the original smartphone was of little relevance on the day of its release. “New” only arouses bewilderment.
The appearance of the phone is one of its few advantages. The matte body, pleasant to the touch, the beautiful dual camera unit and small display frames makes a positive impression, although the exterior lacks a fingerprint sensor and the current design of the 5-megapixel selfie camera. The 6.52-inch IPS screen does not have a particularly high HD+ resolution, but has a good reserve of brightness and natural color reproduction. The displayed image is not negative.
Nothing like this can be said about the technical characteristics. The MediaTek MT8766B processor is built on outdated ARM Cortex-A53 cores, so even with 3GB of RAM and a PowerVR GE8300 video adapter, you shouldn’t hope for a smooth Android 13 interface. Applications often launch with a second delay, gaming capabilities are limited to 2D projects and undemanding games like World Of Tanks Blitz on minimal graphics settings. The permanent memory is insanely small by today's standards (32GB), a slot for MicroSD cards will definitely be needed. Autonomy is the second and last advantage of the phablet. The 5150 mAh battery provides about two days of active interaction with the mobile assistant.
The main 13- and 2-megapixel photo modules are very simple, so you can’t count on photographic masterpieces. Even a significant part of daytime images will be spoiled by blur, noise, and reduced detail. The sound from the only speaker is very weak, but you can at least enjoy the music through wired headphones. There are no NFC contactless payments, so paying in supermarkets won't be easy. As a result, we have a device that is irrelevant today, whose opponents are often better in functionality.
