UMIDIGI G100A Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
UMIDIGI G100A Overview
UMIDIGI G100A - big and clumsy
Phablets are becoming increasingly popular among fans of mobile electronics. A phone with a huge display offers greater comfort in web surfing, using instant messengers, watching videos and other operations. Of course, there is considerable demand for inexpensive smartphones of this type. The Chinese company UMIDIGI tried to satisfy it with the hero of today's review, but the attempt cannot be considered successful.
The appearance of the new product will rather be attributed to its strengths. It is easy to forgive the imperfections of the outdated form factor of the 8-megapixel selfie camera and the thick lower frame of the IPS panel for a representative of a virtually low price segment. And the combination of a side fingerprint scanner, a modern camera unit, and a variety of colors for the rear panels, stylized as marble, pleases the eye. The 6.9-inch IPS screen turned out to be less unambiguous. Its main problem is the modest image clarity at a resolution of 1640x720 pixels. Small icons and fonts seem blurry. The brightness reserve is also not a record, at 600 nits the image is not always visible on a summer day. But with color rendition and content smoothness (refresh rate of 120 Hz) everything is fine.
The UNISOC Tiger T615 processor and Mali G57MC1 video adapter are a good solution for the cost category, but 4 GB of RAM do not allow the full performance of the bundle to be revealed. So, if the Android 14 interface is relatively smooth, and the launch of applications is fast, then the gaming capabilities are reduced due to the small amount of RAM. Sometimes even games like World Of Tanks Blitz can start to slow down or even crash to the desktop. At the same time, the internal storage is allocated as much as 256 GB, and a slot for MicroSD cards is not forgotten. But what to place on such a volume of ROM? It's not quite clear. As for autonomy, the 6000mAh battery is responsible for it. It will give more than 10-12 hours of active screen time. There is also a fast charge, but its power is low (20W).
The photo capabilities of the main 13- and 2-megapixel photo modules are mediocre. Even capturing daytime photos causes difficulties in the presence of dynamic objects or direct sunlight. Therefore, the sensors will usually be used for video calls or document shooting. There are no stereo speakers, the sound is flat, not too loud. But what is really disappointing is the lack of contactless NFC payments. As a result, we have a very controversial device in most of its parameters, to which you can find a more relevant alternative.
