UMIDIGI G9C Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
UMIDIGI G9C Overview
UMIDIGI G9C - chipset decides everything?
The success of a smartphone depends on many factors. The manufacturer's fame, the attractiveness of the design, the price tag's compliance with the parameters - the list can go on for a really long time. But decent technical characteristics will occupy one of the first places in this list. Unfortunately, it is with them that the hero of today's review has serious problems.
The appearance of the new product cannot be considered perfect, but it definitely has a number of advantages. Pleasant to the eye colors of the cases, a stylish dual camera unit, a side fingerprint scanner, not the widest display frames allow the exterior to look fresh and interesting. Of the obvious disadvantages, we will note only the outdated design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera. The 6.75-inch IPS screen has excellent picture smoothness for the price segment at a 90-Hz refresh rate, realistic color rendition. The resolution is low (HD +), but opponents rarely differ in anything better. The brightness level of 500 nits deserves the same words. Direct sunlight will force you to look for the nearest shade.
The MediaTek Helio G36 processor is a downright disappointment. It is noticeably inferior in performance to other popular budget analogs from UNISOC. For example, in the AnTuTu benchmark, the difference is more than 100% (120 versus 250 thousand points). Even with 6 GB of RAM, the chip does not always cope with the resource-intensive Android 14 interface. As for 3D games, only old undemanding projects like PUBG Mobile function more or less at low graphics settings. There will be no problems with autonomy thanks to the 5000 mAh battery. It gives about a day and a half of active use of the phablet. Fast charging can reach 18W, but the complete device provides only 10W of power. 128 GB of permanent memory is allocated, there is a slot for MicroSD cards.
The main 50- and 2-megapixel photo sensors are quite simple, but still capable of giving detailed and natural daytime shots. However, moving objects or mediocre lighting can turn photos into an abundance of noise, blur, and other artifacts that are unpleasant to the eye. The only speaker is responsible for the sound, its volume is slightly above average. A separate headphone jack is left for music lovers. The presence of contactless NFC payments will also add to the piggy bank of pluses. As a result, we have a device with potential, which could not be realized due to the low-performance CPU.
