UMIDIGI Note 90 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
UMIDIGI Note 90 Overview
UMIDIGI Note 90 - when there are too many simplifications
Every self-respecting smartphone manufacturer does not forget to release a couple of models in the low price segment every few months. These are the phones that sell in huge numbers, but creating a future bestseller is very difficult. Unfortunately, the Chinese company Umidigi failed to cope with a similar task this time.
The appearance of the new product is, at least, not bad. The dual camera unit is modern, the fingerprint scanner on the side looks decent, and the frames of the 6.75-inch display do not seem huge. The plastic of the case is, of course, inexpensive, but tactilely quite pleasant. The IPS screen no longer evokes such clear emotions. The smoothness of the picture at a 90-Hz refresh rate is impressive, the color rendition is natural, but with the level of maximum brightness things are mediocre. In direct sunlight, the image is poorly visible; you will have to look for shadows. And the situation with the clarity of the content is not very good, since the resolution with a large diagonal was only 1650x720 pixels.
The technical characteristics are also not great. The UNISOC Tiger T606 processor and Mali G57MC1 video adapter are a worthy solution for the price category, but 4GB of RAM is not enough by today’s standards. Therefore, in synthetic tests the results are adequate (250 thousand points in the AnTuTu test), the Android 14 operating system usually functions smoothly, but games are a problem. Really resource-intensive projects like Fortnite are close to a slideshow, and due to lack of RAM they can simply close on their own. But the internal storage is allocated as much as 256GB with a slot for MicroSD cards.
The photo capabilities of the main 13 and 2 megapixel photo modules do not arouse delight. Even daytime photographs are often buried in blur, errors in color reproduction, and noise. It is strongly recommended to avoid evening photographs. Of course, you can’t dream of stereo sound, but the jack for wired headphones is retained. At the same time, the developer saved on NFC contactless payments. The final impression of the gadget is ambiguous due to the abundance of unpleasant shortcomings.
