Ulefone Power Armor 16S Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Ulefone Power Armor 16S Overview
Ulefone Power Armor 16S - not the same volume?
Today, even buyers of inexpensive rugged smartphones want not only durability, but also functionality and additional competitive advantages from their mobile assistants. Manufacturers have to meet users halfway, which is often not so easy. The Chinese company Ulefone, when creating the hero of today's review, tried to balance between containing the growth of the cost of the device and its compliance with the needs of the audience. And it looks like the balance has been maintained.
The appearance of the new product is far from ideal, but still has several attractive features. Large display frames and large dimensions of the case are the costs of moisture protection according to IP68 standards and the presence of a huge battery, but the developer decided to distract from the disadvantages with an interesting texture of the rear panel, stylized metal elements, combining a camera block and an amazing speaker with a power of 3.5W (122 dB) into one exterior detail. You can safely forget about cheap Bluetooth speakers at home, because the resulting sound is rich and pleasant to the ear. We also note the side fingerprint scanner. But the 5.93-inch IPS screen is not so easy to praise. The brightness margin is average, the HD+ resolution at the diagonal used does not provide excellent image clarity, and the images were also saved at an increased refresh rate. But the color rendition is correct, and an oleophobic coating is used.
The technical characteristics are a good eight-core UNISOC Tiger T616 processor, 8GB of RAM and a Mali G57MC1 video adapter, with which you won’t have to worry about the performance of many applications, as well as the smoothness of Android 13. With games, of course, the situation is somewhat more complicated. The most resource-intensive projects like Genshin Impact or Tank Company will launch with minimal graphic presets and with little stuttering, while less demanding titles like PUBG Mobile have smooth and stable gameplay. 128GB of permanent memory is allocated, but it can always be expanded with MicroSD cards. The energy efficiency of the chipset together with a capacious 9600 mAh battery allows you to achieve impressive battery life of 15+ hours of active screen time. An 18W charger will make it necessary to leave the phone at the outlet overnight, which is slightly disappointing.
The main cameras are the main 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor and a 0.3-megapixel portrait sensor. Daytime photographs, although not replete with flagship detail, are pleasing with the rendition of colors and the absence of artifacts. Evening shots are often buried in noise and blurry objects. There is support for NFC contactless payments, which makes shopping in supermarkets quick and effortless; there is also a jack for wired headphones. As a result, we have a durable and functional gadget without serious flaws, which also pleases with an affordable price tag.
