Ulefone RugKing 5 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Ulefone RugKing 5 Pro Overview
Ulefone RugKing 5 Pro – Heavy Battery Life
The Chinese company Ulefone hasn't forgotten about those who prefer large, rugged smartphones with enhanced ruggedness and IP68 water resistance. The manufacturer produces similar phones across all price segments. However, the competitiveness and relevance of each individual model varies. The subject of today's review, for example, won't disappoint those going on multi-day hikes. However, it's not quite as suitable for other use cases.
The new device's appearance has several positive aspects, such as a beautiful photo module assembly, a stylish carbon fiber texture, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a trendy camping flashlight on the back. However, all of this pales in comparison to the enormous dimensions of the case, thick bezels all around the screen, and a hefty weight of 629 grams. The 6.78-inch IPS display offers good image clarity at a resolution of 2460x1080 pixels, and color reproduction is also excellent. However, there's no noticeable increase in refresh rate, and the 700 nits brightness is unlikely to be sufficient for using the device in direct sunlight.
The specifications include a UNISOC T615 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a Mali G57-MC1 GPU, which are already quite mediocre for this price range. AnTuTu scores of 250,000-270,000 points suggest the chipset is struggling to render the Android 16 interface smoothly. Resource-intensive games are out of the question; only relatively simple 3D titles like PUBG Mobile run smoothly. However, the device does boast a 20,000 mAh battery. It provides approximately 20-25 hours of screen time. However, fast charging is modest for such a battery, at just 33W. Storage is limited to 256GB, with a microSD card slot.
Photography is handled by a 64-megapixel main sensor from Omnivision without optical image stabilization and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with night vision. While the second sensor has a narrow focus and is unlikely to be used constantly, the main camera is quite suitable for daytime photo shoots. These shots are highly detailed, and there are virtually no obvious artifacts. However, evening photos are best left to camera phones. There's no stereo sound, but the single large speaker is loud and has a decent bass. NFC contactless payments are a welcome addition, but overall impressions of the device are mixed. Still, in 2026, I'd like to see less controversial devices in all respects.
