Vivo S15e is a reasonably simplistic flagship

The Chinese company Vivo knows how to create both excellent budget smartphones and stunning top models. However, the greatest difficulty for manufacturers is usually caused by phones of the medium-high price segment. Simplifying the flagship device, reducing its cost and at the same time retaining most of the advantages is not an easy task. But judging by the hero of today's review, the developer was able to cope with it.

The stylish edges of the glass case, a massive, but at the same time attractive and beautiful block of photomodules, the ergonomic shape of the monoblock and the modest frames of the AMOLED screen make us understand that we are not dealing with a cheap gadget. Only two features give out traces of savings on the part of the developer corporation in the gadget, namely the plastic edging and the outdated form factor of the 50-megapixel front camera. At the same time, the selfie module itself deserves a positive assessment, it is better than its counterparts from most opponents. The 6.4-inch AMOLED display has an increased, albeit not a record refresh rate of 90 hertz, a good margin of brightness at FullHD + resolution. It is difficult to find fault with the under-screen fingerprint sensor, which tries to correctly work out almost all touches.

Specifications are presented with a rare, but no less productive Samsung Exynos 1080 CPU, 8GB / 12GB of RAM and a Mali G78 MP10 video accelerator. The chipset is based on the latest Cortex-A78 cores and guarantees extremely smooth gameplay in a variety of resource-intensive gaming projects. You can plunge headlong even into the rich world of Genshin Impact at about medium-high graphics presets. Of course, it will not be possible to completely get rid of microfreezes, but they are also relevant for the best processors. The energy efficiency of the previously mentioned bundle is not bad thanks to the 5Nm process technology, the 4700mAh battery will last for a day and a half. There is no wireless charging in the phablet, but such a shortcoming is redeemed by its fast wired 66W alternative. There is no slot for microSD cards, but they would hardly be useful with 128/256GB of ROM.

Unfortunately, the photo capabilities of 50-, 13- and 2-megapixel cameras are noticeably weaker than those of more expensive predecessors. There is no optical stabilization, so the clarity of evening photos and the amount of noise on them directly depends on the stillness of the Android smartphone. There are many times fewer problems on daytime frames, their color reproduction and detail are excellent in 99% of cases. If Vivo workers did not save on NFC contactless payment and support for 5G networks, then the same words cannot be said about stereo sound and a headphone jack. You will have to use high-quality Bluetooth headphones, leaving old earbuds at home. However, the presence of non-critical minuses does not spoil the impression of a device that is pleasant in all respects.
