Vivo S50 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Vivo S50 Overview
Vivo S50 – the best new product
The Chinese company Vivo has gradually begun to prepare for shortages not only in RAM but also in chipsets, photo modules, and other components. Thus, in new mid-range smartphones, we can see balanced solutions from two or even three years ago. But this manufacturer's choice evokes rather positive emotions.
The device's appearance is magnificent. This affordable phone impresses with its very thin display bezels and integrated fingerprint sensor, as well as its modern triple-camera design and a variety of rear glass panel colors. The frame is made of plastic, but it's successfully styled to look like metal. The picture quality of the 6.59-inch AMOLED panel is comparable to that of flagships. The screen also boasts a 2750x1260 resolution, ideal for a diagonal display, that delivers richly detailed content. It also boasts an impressive maximum brightness of 2500 nits, an excellent 120 Hz refresh rate, and properly calibrated color reproduction. The developer hasn't forgotten about the oleophobic coating either.
The technical specifications include the proven Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 CPU, 12/16 GB of RAM, and an Adreno 735 GPU. While not exactly groundbreaking, these chipsets deliver around 1.5 million points in AnTuTu and handle all resource-intensive games smoothly at high, and sometimes even maximum, graphics settings. The chipset isn't overly hot, so throttling isn't considered serious. The large 6500mAh battery charges to 100% in 50-55 minutes, providing enough battery for 10-12 hours of active screen time. Unfortunately, wireless charging is not supported. Internal storage is available in either 256GB or 512GB.
Photography is impressive. The only criticism is the very basic 8MP wide-angle module, which buyers are unlikely to use often. However, the main 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor and the IMX882 telephoto lens with 3x zoom (also 50MP) also feature hybrid image stabilization. Daytime photos are comparable to those of camera phones in terms of detail and natural color rendition, while evening shots are free of blur or noise. Stereo sound is quiet, yet rich and immersive. Of course, it also features NFC contactless payment and 5G support. Full IP69 water resistance means you won't have to worry about using your mobile assistant in the rain or its functionality after shooting underwater. Overall, the device, given its affordable price, seems like a more than reasonable purchase.
