Vivo S50 Pro mini Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Vivo S50 Pro Mini Overview
Vivo S50 Pro Mini – a compact flagship alternative
The smartphone market is once again swept by a wave of love for small, ergonomic phones. Chinese company Vivo has also noticed this trend. Having presented its fans with several similar models, the developer set about creating a device with technical specifications close to those of its flagship counterparts. And the result of the manufacturer's efforts is beyond praise.
The new device's appearance is neat and distinctive. Stylish, original glass and metal case colors, rounded corners of the candybar design, very thin screen bezels with an integrated fingerprint scanner, and IP68 water resistance make the device an extremely attractive design. The 6.31-inch AMOLED display boasts an excellent 2640x1216 resolution for its size, complemented by excellent content clarity, a responsive 120Hz refresh rate, flawless color reproduction, and impressive brightness. PWM is minimized, and an oleophobic coating is also included.
The performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, and Adreno 829 GPU is excellent. While the compact size does result in some throttling, this is only noticeable in synthetic benchmarks. The well-known AnTuTu benchmark scores around three million points, and resource-intensive games like Zenless Zone Zero or Fortnite run smoothly, even with the slightest lag at maximum graphics settings. Of course, no skimping was done on the storage, which now boasts 256GB/512GB. Surprisingly, the battery not only boasts a massive 6500mAh capacity (approximately 10-12 hours of active screen time), but also supports 40W wireless charging.
There's only one complaint about the photography capabilities. It concerns the modest 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, which is unlikely to be used often. However, this doesn't apply to the 50-megapixel Sony IMX921 main sensor and the 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, which are also equipped with hybrid image stabilization. Even low light won't hinder the capture of detailed, noise-free photos and videos. The stereo sound is loud and fairly voluminous, though not the best in the world. The list of advantages also includes NFC contactless payments and 5G support, while the disadvantages include the temporary lack of a global version and, as a result, FDD-LTE B7. But even with this drawback, the device is a cut above most of its competitors.
