Vivo X300 FE – compact, affordable, yet a flagship?

The Chinese company Vivo delights its fans with dozens of stunning smartphones every year, but a significant number remain officially sold only in China. However, today's review subject has finally made it to the international market and is capable of competing equally with the best in its price segment. It boasts numerous competitive advantages.

The new device deserves praise for its interesting design. The horizontal asymmetrical photo module cluster looks unique, the color scheme of the rear glass panels is well-chosen, and no skimping is done on the side bezels, which are made of metal. All this is complemented by thin screen bezels and IP68 water resistance. The 6.31-inch AMOLED display also provides excellent ergonomics. The AMOLED panel itself offers crisp images at a resolution of 2640x1216 pixels, a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, natural color reproduction, and a massive 5000 nits of brightness. At the same time, the LTPO display is also very energy efficient.

The technical specifications include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 CPU, 12 GB of RAM, and an Adreno 840 GPU. Even its compact size won't hinder the performance of all modern games at maximum graphics settings and a stable frame rate. Throttling is only observed in synthetic tests, but even then, the processor scores over three million points in the AnTuTu benchmark. No skimping on battery life, either. The 6500mAh battery provides approximately 10-12 hours of active screen time, though the developer skimped on power for both wired (90W) and wireless (40W) charging. Storage is limited to 256GB/512GB.

Photography is on par with camera phones in this price range. The 8MP wide-angle lens is perhaps a bit weak and definitely not recommended for use in low-light conditions. However, the 50MP main sensor and 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, equipped with a hybrid image stabilization system, are capable of capturing every detail of your surroundings, even in the dark. Loud stereo sound, NFC contactless payments, 5G network support, and eSIM make this device one of the most attractive options for its price.
