Xiaomi 15T Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi 15T Overview
Xiaomi 15T - A Slow Evolution
T-score smartphones from the Chinese company Xiaomi have always attracted audiences with their impeccable price-quality ratio. In reality, they were essentially stripped-down sub-flagships, cleverly simplified. This can also be said of the subject of today's review, but there's a caveat. It differs only slightly from its predecessor, which is now significantly cheaper.
The new model's appearance is similar to that of its predecessor, but this feature isn't a drawback. It also features attractive glass back panel options, a stylish rectangular triple-camera assembly, a metal frame, and impressive IP69 water resistance. The 6.83-inch AMOLED display has very thin bezels, and a high-quality optical fingerprint sensor is housed beneath the glass. The 2772x1280 resolution is sufficient for crisp images, enhanced by the flagship 144Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness, up to 6500 nits, is also unaffected. Color reproduction is realistic, and the oleophobic coating is effective.
The specifications include a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 CPU, 12GB of RAM, and a Mali G720-MC7 GPU. This combination has already been tested in the Poco X7 Pro, and in this device, it features a better cooling system. In AnTuTu, the chipset scores around 1.7 million points. Throttling is present, but not critical. Maximum graphics settings allow for stunning visuals in the vast majority of games with a fairly stable frame rate. However, the 5500mAh battery capacity is not impressive. While 8-9 hours of active screen time is certainly a good battery life, similar devices also offer batteries with 6000 or even 7000 mAh. Charging power is 67W, requiring only 25 minutes of charging. A wireless alternative is still lacking. 256/512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage is available.
The cameras won't let you down in a pinch. The improved 50 MP main sensor from Omnivison retains the hybrid image stabilization found in the 50 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. There's no significant loss of detail even when shooting in low light, and color rendering errors are difficult to discern. The 12 MP wide-angle lens, however, is weaker than its siblings, although it's still useful on more than one occasion. Stereo sound isn't top-notch, but it's loud and rich. There's also NFC contactless payment, 5G support, and an IR port for controlling home appliances. Overall, this is a very balanced and competitive device, but it doesn't offer any significant advancements.
