Xiaomi 17 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi 17 Overview
Xiaomi 17 – Compact Technology
The Chinese company Xiaomi has been quite conservative in its flagship smartphone series for the past few years, but this is far from the case with, for example, Samsung. The manufacturer hasn't forgotten about improving the performance and design of its new models, as well as other technical specifications, while maintaining the core design and distinctive features of its models. For example, the subject of today's review remains as ergonomic and user-friendly as its predecessors.
The device's appearance has been significantly updated. Even more rounded corners with IP68 water resistance, reduced display bezels with an integrated ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a variety of back panel colors, and a metal frame create a very modern and stylish exterior. The 6.35-inch AMOLED panel with a 2656x1220 resolution delivers detailed images, smooth 120Hz refresh rate, realistic color reproduction, and a 4000-nit brightness. LTPO technology also helps achieve excellent power efficiency.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB of RAM, and Adreno 840 GPU are a fantastically powerful combination, unmatched in Android smartphones. Nearly four million points in AnTuTu testify to the incredible power, sufficient for any task. Of course, the aforementioned CPU handles even the most demanding games like Genshin Impact or Diablo Immortal with ease. Throttling is present, but only noticeable in synthetic benchmarks. Surprisingly, the developer managed to squeeze a 6,330 mAh battery into such a compact device. It provides approximately 9-10 hours of active screen time and supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Storage options range from 256GB to 512GB.
Photography is represented by three 50-megapixel cameras, two of which (the main Omnivision LightHunter 950 module and the telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom) feature hybrid image stabilization. Even evening photo sessions are rich in fine detail, but are disappointingly noisy. 8K video recording is also of excellent quality. Stereo sound is loud and rich, a rarity given the compact form factor. NFC contactless payment, 5G and eSIM support, and an IR port for controlling home appliances complete the portrait of a truly worthy flagship.
