Xiaomi POCO C85 - not ideal, but optimal?

The Chinese company Poco, a sub-brand of Xiaomi Corporation, releases more and more smartphones in the middle and high price categories, but still does not forget about its fans who prefer the most inexpensive phones. And the hero of today's review has every chance to win the love of the audience. Yes, it has many shortcomings, but almost all of them are redeemed by an extremely democratic price tag.

The appearance of the new product is imperfect. It is difficult not to notice the rather outdated form factor of the 8-megapixel selfie camera or the wide lower frame of the display. However, all of the above can be forgiven, because there are also beautiful colors of cases made of fairly high-quality plastic, a stylish block of photo modules, a side fingerprint scanner. The 6.9-inch IPS screen evokes mixed emotions. The resolution of 1640x720 pixels is still not enough for good image clarity, sometimes you will have to close your eyes to loose or blurry small fonts and icons. But at the same time, the maximum brightness of 800 nits is decent for IPS technology, the color rendition is quite natural, and the 120 Hz refresh rate gives the content smoothness.

The technical characteristics are presented by the standard for the cost segment MediaTek Helio G81 processor, 6 GB / 8 GB RAM and Mali G52-MC2 video core. You can't count on outstanding performance with such a bundle, but it provides more or less stable operation of the HyperOS shell. Gaming capabilities are limited to launching non-resource-intensive 3D or even 2D games. It is better not to turn on some Genshin Impact, because even at minimum graphics settings it will be more like a slide show. But the energy-efficient chipset guarantees autonomy of 10-12 hours of active screen time from a battery that has grown to 6000 mAh. Fast charging has been increased to a power of 33 W, you need to be near the outlet for about a couple of hours. The internal storage can be 128 or 256 GB, it can be increased with MicroSD cards.

The user will not be left without a photo, although the photo capabilities of the main 50- and 2-megapixel modules are limited. So, during the day you can easily get a detailed frame without blurry objects and multiple noises. But in the evening, such achievements are unlikely to be possible due to the lack of optical stabilization. There is no stereo sound, the only speaker will help you not to miss an important notification, but listening to music with it is not very comfortable. But a separate headphone jack is in place. There is NFC support, so payment in supermarkets will occur in a matter of seconds. Thus, we have before us not the most attractive or technologically advanced device, but a balanced and affordable one, which can be considered for purchase.
