Xiaomi POCO M6 4G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi POCO M6 4G Overview
Xiaomi POCO M6 4G - only a disappointment?
The Chinese company Poco (a sub-brand of Xiaomi) every year delights fans with dozens of bestsellers in different price segments. Most of the products it produces amaze with the price-quality ratio, but sometimes there are rare exceptions that evoke rather negative emotions. Unfortunately, so did the hero of today’s review.
The appearance of the new product should definitely be considered one of its advantages. Of course, belonging to the low-medium cost category is revealed through the easily soiled plastic of the rear panel and not the narrowest display frames, but the combination of a beautiful block of photo modules with a circle of LEDs, a side fingerprint scanner, and various body colors set the device apart from the monotonous opponents. The 6.79-inch IPS screen is not truly bright (450 nits), so you can comfortably use the mobile assistant in the summer only in the shade. But color rendition, picture clarity (resolution 2460x1080 pixels), its smoothness (refresh rate 90 hertz) do not raise any questions.
But the technical characteristics are disappointing. In reality, the latest MediaTek Helio G91 processor is a slightly improved version of the old G70 chip, not the G90. This is why we only get performance of 250 thousand points in AnTuTu. 6GB/8GB of RAM and the Mali G52MC2 video adapter do not help much in this situation, so you don’t see the excellent performance of the latest Android games. Thus, the resource-intensive Honkai: Star Rail, even with minimal graphic presets, upsets with stutters. Less demanding operations and the Android 14 interface (HyperOS skin) are already amenable to the chipset. The autonomy is clearly above average thanks to the 5030mAh battery; you can expect about 8-9 hours of active screen time. Fast charging with a power of 33W is a great addition to battery capacity. The permanent memory is allocated 128/256GB, which is expandable with MicroSD cards.
The main cameras are represented by a far from new 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor and a 2-megapixel macro module. You definitely shouldn’t count on high-quality evening photos, because there is no optical stabilization. Daytime frames are quite detailed, errors in color reproduction are observed infrequently, and the noise level does not exceed critical levels. There is no stereo sound, but you can enjoy your favorite music with wired headphones. NFC contactless payments are present; payment in supermarkets will take seconds. But even the many mentioned advantages do not save the gadget from a low-performance CPU, a modest brightness reserve of the IPS panel and other shortcomings, supported by a not particularly affordable price tag.
