Xiaomi Redmi 13 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi 13 Overview
Xiaomi Redmi 13 - still the best in class?
The most affordable smartphones from Redmi (a sub-brand of Xiaomi Corporation) are popular all over the world, although their relevance decreases with each generation. If earlier we literally every year received breakthrough products for the price segment, now the manufacturer produces balanced, but far from revolutionary phones. The hero of today's review turned out to be more interesting than its predecessor, but is unlikely to take a leading position in the cost category.
The appearance of the new product is quite memorable. The triple camera unit turned out beautiful, and I am pleased with the variety of colors of the housings made of high-quality polycarbonate. A convenient side fingerprint scanner, a 13-megapixel front-facing photo module installed in the upper part of the display, and the relatively narrow frames (except for the bottom) of the screen are difficult to criticize. The 6.81-inch IPS screen boasts FullHD+ resolution and an image refresh rate that has increased to 120 hertz. Unfortunately, the brightness reserve of 600 nits will not be sufficient for being in direct sunlight with the phablet; for such scenarios, it is worth taking a closer look at more expensive alternatives with AMOLED panels.
The technical characteristics were the MediaTek Helio G99 CPU, 6GB/8GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC2 video core, thanks to which the overall performance increased by about 40%. The interface of the proprietary MIUI shell is characterized by increased responsiveness, microlags occur noticeably less frequently. Gaming capabilities have also been improved, now you can try out the gameplay of even really demanding projects like Genshin Impact. However, it is recommended to set low or low-medium graphics presets to prevent multiple stutters and freezes. The battery capacity is 5000 mAh, so you can still count on one and a half days of operation of the mobile assistant. The charging power has already been increased to 33W. The size of the permanent memory of 128/256GB of ROM is expandable with MicroSD cards.
The photo capabilities of 50-, 8- and 2-megapixel photo sensors are at the same level as before. The limit of cameras is daytime shooting of not very moving objects; in other situations, frames and videos will be spoiled by noise, blur and other artifacts. There is stereo sound, although its volume and balanced frequency response are far from flagship ones. There are also NFC contactless payments (not in all versions of the gadget), and an infrared port for controlling household appliances. Thus, purchasing the device will definitely not cause negative emotions, but the number of no less technologically advanced rivals for the device is also large.
