Xiaomi Redmi 14C 5G Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi 14C 5G Overview
Xiaomi Redmi 14C 5G - filling the range
Despite the fame of the Xiaomi company and its incredible ability to create best-selling smartphones that move the industry forward, it also has many mediocre models. The developer needs to expand the range of phones offered, but it is simply impossible to pay maximum attention to each individual device. That is why sometimes units like the hero of today's review appear, which are unlikely to be future hits.
The appearance has almost completely migrated to the new product from the 4G version, which can hardly be considered a compliment. Negative emotions will definitely be caused by the outdated design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera and wide display frames. The back panel has beautiful colors, a stylish block of photo modules, but is made of rather easily soiled plastic. The 6.88-inch IPS screen is quite strange. It has both obvious advantages in the form of smooth images at a 120 Hz refresh rate and natural color rendition, and disadvantages, namely a modest brightness reserve of 550 nits, low for the diagonal HD+ resolution. Small fonts may seem blurry or loose, and direct sunlight reduces the visibility of the displayed content to zero.
But the technical characteristics are excellent for the price category. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor together with 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM and Adreno 613 video accelerator score significantly more than 400 thousand points in the AnTuTu test and brilliantly cope with the resource-intensive Android 15 interface (the proprietary HyperOS shell is used). The chipset allows you to appreciate the abundance of demanding games like Genshin Impact, Wreckfest, but not at the maximum graphic presets. Energy efficiency is also not disappointing, because from a 5160 mAh battery you can really get about two days of active operation of the phablet. The charging power, however, is only 18W, which is a little by today's standards. You need to spend almost three hours at the outlet to reach full capacity. The permanent memory is allocated 64/128 GB, which is highly recommended to be expanded with MicroSD cards.
The photo capabilities are not outstanding. A simple 50-megapixel main photo module without optical stabilization and a 2-megapixel portrait sensor are capable of taking a truly high-quality daytime photo only when shooting in manual mode and in the hands of an experienced photographer. There is no stereo sound, but a jack for wired headphones has been left. Among other advantages, we highlight support for 5G networks and an IR port for controlling household appliances, but the focus so far exclusively on the Indian market has led to the absence of FDD-LTE B7. In European and CIS countries, this leads to poor 4G performance. The gadget also lacks NFC contactless payments. Thus, this is not the most balanced device, which has many more interesting competitors.
