Xiaomi Redmi 15C - a disappointment ready to become a hit

The most affordable smartphones from Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi Corporation, in the vast majority of cases won the love of millions of people. Yes, they did not always have enough performance or photo capabilities, but opponents often did not provide such a price-quality ratio. Unfortunately, over time, inexpensive devices have not seen any progress. And the hero of today's review largely repeats its predecessor, but part of the audience would like to see significant improvements.

The appearance of the new product is somewhat more relevant. Yes, the 13-megapixel selfie camera still has an outdated form factor, but the texture of the back panel has changed a lot, the screen frame is thinner, and the photo module block is more interesting. The side fingerprint scanner has not disappeared either. But the 6.9-inch IPS display can disappoint with a very low resolution of 1640x720 pixels for such a diagonal. Pixels are visible to the naked eye. Peak brightness is less than 500 cd/m2, so you shouldn't count on the image being visible in direct sunlight. Positive aspects include relatively realistic color rendition and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Technical specifications remain unchanged. MediaTek Helio G81 CPU, 4 GB/8 GB RAM and Mali G52MC2 video core are not the worst, but still not the best combination for the price segment. It reaches 250 thousand points, so you can't even hope for truly smooth operation of Android 15 OS (HyperOS shell). You'll have to forget about resource-intensive games, even fairly old 3D projects like Call Of Duty Mobile can upset with freezes and lags. But the battery is expanded to 6000 mAh, so the battery life is an impressive 2-3 days of active use of the monoblock. Now the user will have a 33W charger, which can rightfully be called fast. The permanent memory is 128GB/256GB, but it can be expanded with MicroSD cards in a separate slot.

The photo capabilities of the 50 and 2-megapixel main cameras are basic. They are definitely not suitable for sophisticated amateur photographers, but it is quite possible to capture the text of a document or take a photo in daylight for a social network. But with the onset of evening, noise and blurring of objects appear. There is no stereo sound, one speaker is simple, quiet, not very balanced in terms of frequency response. NFC contactless payments are available, but not in all regional versions, you need to be careful when buying. Thus, we have an ordinary gadget before us, which, thanks to the popularity of the brand, can still bring considerable profit to the developer.
