Xiaomi Redmi A2+ Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi A2+ Overview
Xiaomi Redmi A2+ is a disappointing repetition
The first-generation A-series smartphones from the Chinese company Redmi (a sub-brand of Xiaomi Corporation) did not arouse great interest among the audience. The reason for this was serious savings on literally everything in order to achieve a low cost. Unfortunately, over the past year, the developers did not draw any conclusions and, in fact, re-released a very controversial product.
The appearance of the novelty is unlikely to be a reason for delight, even if it has positive features. So, a double photomodule, the presence of a fingerprint scanner and eye-pleasing colors of the rear panels look relevant for the price category. But at the same time, it's hard not to see the wide bezels of the screen, the mediocre plastic case and the unattractive design of the 5-megapixel front camera. Its quality is very average, you can’t hope for high-quality selfies and a perfect picture during video calls. The 6.52-inch IPS display raises fewer questions. The HD+ resolution and 60Hz image refresh rate standard for the value segment are complemented by a good margin of brightness and correct color reproduction.
The technical specifications were the new MediaTek Helio G36 CPU, 2GB of RAM and the PowerVR GE8320 video adapter. The chipset is virtually identical to the G35, so you shouldn't expect great performance. If the interface of the proprietary MIUI shell based on Android 13 can still be considered smooth, but slow application launch, the frankly weak gaming capabilities of the processor are frustrating. Even undemanding projects like Call Of Duty will require minimal graphic presets, and a small amount of RAM sometimes leads to games crashing to the desktop. 32GB of ROM will definitely have to be expanded with microSD cards. Autonomy is the only strong point of the device, because the 5000mAh battery is responsible for ten hours of active screen time from a single charge.
8 and 0.3-megapixel main cameras would be the norm for an inexpensive phablet in 2019, but today this combination looks ridiculous. If daytime photos sometimes come out detailed and natural in terms of color reproduction, then the slightest deterioration in lighting turns the pictures into a mess of noise and blur. There is only one speaker, its volume is enough for notifications, it is better not to assign other tasks to it. Infrared, NFC, USB Type-C port and other functionality is reserved for more expensive brand phones. As a result, we have a nondescript gadget that is not able to stand out from the background of opponents.
