Xiaomi Redmi A5 Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi A5 Overview
Xiaomi Redmi A5 - improvement of ultra-budget hits
The A-series of smartphones from the Chinese company Redmi (a sub-brand of Xiaomi) has always been popular, although in terms of sales, its representatives lagged far behind the main line. The reason was largely hidden in the focus of the devices. Ultra-cheap phones with minimal cost simply consisted of compromises. Technological progress allowed the hero of today's review to be better than its predecessors and have fewer obvious shortcomings.
The appearance of the new product, of course, gives away its real price tag, but it is difficult not to note the beautiful block of photo modules, the appearance of a side fingerprint scanner, and an abundance of interesting colors. But at the same time, the plastic of the case is quite cheap and easily soiled, the display frames are definitely not the narrowest, and the design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera has been outdated for several years. The 6.88-inch IPS screen suddenly received a 120 Hz refresh rate, which has a positive effect on the smoothness of the HyperOS shell interface (Android 15). It also has realistic color rendition, but what it definitely lacks is image clarity at HD+ resolution, brightness at a modest peak of 450 cd/m2. Direct sunlight reduces the visibility of content to almost zero.
The technical characteristics are the UNISOC Tiger T615 CPU, 4 GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC1 video core. Here, the metamorphoses are noticeable to the naked eye. The bundle scores about 260-270 thousand points in the AnTuTu benchmark and is already capable of entertaining the user with games. Of course, you shouldn't count on a stable frame rate in extremely resource-intensive projects like Fortnite, but you can and even should have a couple of battles in PUBG Mobile. The battery capacity is 5200 mAh, which is enough for two days of active use of the mobile assistant. There is even a relatively fast charge of 18W, which is good. You rarely find this in the price category. The permanent memory is 64/128 GB, a slot for MicroSD cards is available.
The photo capabilities are, of course, basic. 32 and 0.3-megapixel sensors will always help with capturing documents, and if the weather is excellent, and the events are devoid of any dynamics, then the photos will come out detailed. There is no stereo sound, one speaker is not very loud, and you can’t hear the bass in it. But there is a jack for wired headphones. Unfortunately, there is no NFC module, but it would significantly increase the attractiveness of the gadget. But even without such a function, the device holds up well against its opponents.
