Xiaomi Redmi A7 Pro Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi A7 Pro Overview
Xiaomi Redmi A7 Pro - A Successful Cost-Cutting Effort
The A-series smartphones from the Chinese company Redmi (a sub-brand of Xiaomi) have been aimed at the entry-level segment since their inception. In most cases, these phones are extremely unbalanced devices with meager features and a number of obvious issues. However, the hero of today's review, despite its modest price tag, still manages to deviate significantly from this description.
The appearance of the new device is neither impressive nor disappointing. The attractive camera module, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and rather unique color options contrast with the large screen bezels and the seriously outdated design of the 8-megapixel selfie camera. The 6.88-inch IPS display is even more controversial. The 1600x720 resolution doesn't quite suit the diagonal, and the image quality lacks clarity. The 600 nits brightness is low, but the summer sun's rays still retain a slight visibility of content. Color reproduction is slightly dull, but the image smoothness is stunning with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The technical specifications include a UNISOC Tiger T615 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a Mali G57MC1 graphics card. This combination is very relevant for a low-end device; it scores around 260,000-280,000 points in AnTuTu v10 and keeps the Android 15 interface from bogging down. Gaming is a problem due to the small RAM. Less resource-intensive games like PUBG Mobile can potentially crash to the desktop. The internal storage is 64/128 GB, and it can and should be expanded with a microSD card. The battery has grown to 6000 mAh compared to its predecessor, offering an impressive 10-15 hours of active screen time. The 15W charging rate further underscores the device's intended use. You'll be spending a lot of time near a power outlet.
The 13-megapixel and 0.3-megapixel main camera modules are definitely not the best tool for artistic photography. Even the slightest drop in lighting or the appearance of dynamic objects turn photos into a jumble of noise and blur. Autofocus is a plus; it's at least capable of capturing documents. While there are no stereo speakers, there is a dedicated headphone jack. NFC contactless payment is also available in some regional versions. Ultimately, this is far from a trouble-free device, but its shortcomings are easily forgiven thanks to the very reasonable price.
