Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S Review: specs and features, camera quality test, gaming benchmark, user opinions and photos
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S Overview
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S - down the road of deterioration
In the arsenal of the Chinese company Xiaomi, there are far from a dozen good smartphones that can meet the needs of the most whimsical users. However, over time, the audience requires more and more functionality from devices of medium and even low-mid price categories. And it seems that the hero of today's review will upset buyers in these aspects, because it is in many ways inferior even to its predecessor.
The appearance of the novelty has been somewhat updated. The colors and the camera block have changed, the screen frames have become a little thinner. The fingerprint sensor is still located on the side. The case is made of plastic, but it is difficult to find fault with the material's resistance to scratches and chips, and a silicone case is included. The 6.43-inch IPS screen has a 90Hz refresh rate, thanks to which the smoothness of the content being played is noticeably higher. Unfortunately, in terms of brightness and contrast, the situation is worse than with the previously used AMOLED panel, the oleophobic coating of the protective film and glass is mediocre.
Specifications have not received an increase in performance, so they are the same. The MediaTek Helio G96 processor, 6GB / 8GB of RAM and the Mali G57MC2 video accelerator cannot be considered a gaming bundle, however, jamming in the MIUI shell (Android 13) is rare, and most games like Call Of Duty or Diablo Immortal are distinguished by comfortable gameplay. The only exceptions in terms of performance will be the demanding Genshin Impact and Fortnite, which will start with minimal graphic presets and not the most stable framerate. But to scold the heating of the chipset or its energy efficiency simply will not work. The back panel almost does not heat up, and the 5000mAh battery is guaranteed to give about two days of work with a mobile assistant. Fast charging at 33W is unlikely to be superfluous, because with it the battery gains full capacity in 50-60 minutes. The size of the internal storage is 64/128/256GB with a slot for MicroSD cards, there will definitely be no problems with memory.
The main 108-, 8- and 2-megapixel photomodules are headed by the well-known Samsung HM2 sensor. The detailing of daytime shots is great, but due to the lack of optical stabilization, the same words cannot be said about evening and night shots. Noises appear, the slightest movement of objects during shooting will lead to blurring. The footage is recorded in FullHD resolution, everything mentioned earlier applies to the recorded video. There is stereo sound, but it is not loud, the bass is practically absent. But NFC contactless payments and an infrared port for controlling household appliances are available, expanding the list of advantages of the device. As a result, the gadget does not arouse enthusiasm, since it is thinner than the previous model in terms of display and at the same time slightly more expensive.
