The Chinese company Xiaomi pleasantly surprises us several times a year with new generations of its well-known smartphone lines. Surprisingly, almost every updated model is a hit and provides excellent value for money. And only rare exceptions cause mixed emotions among users. Unfortunately, the hero of today’s review is precisely such a device.

The appearance of the new product is worthy of compliments. Not the most expensive device has acquired an under-screen fingerprint scanner, and the display frames have become smaller. The photomodule block practically does not protrude from the body, made of high-quality polycarbonate. Of course, in terms of tactile sensations, the material is inferior to glass, but opponents are no better. The 6.67-inch AMOLED panel has an optimal FullHD+ resolution for a diagonal, does not disappoint with the smoothness of the picture at a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and has a brightness reserve of more than 1000 nits.

The first reason to criticize the phablet will be its technical characteristics. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor, 6GB/8GB of RAM and the Adreno 610 video adapter do not always cope perfectly even with the Android interface (MIUI 14 shell), let alone truly resource-intensive tasks. You can try demanding games like Fortnite only with minimal graphics settings, and the gameplay will experience frequent stuttering. But the chipset does not fail in terms of energy efficiency; the 5000 mAh battery does not require searching for sockets or power banks for a couple of days. Fast charging is available, but the power is 33W, which is not much by today's standards. The size of the permanent memory has reached 128/256GB, with the possibility of expanding it with MicroSD cards.

The main module is a 108-megapixel sensor from Samsung, but you shouldn't expect much from it. The lack of stabilization has a negative impact on pictures taken in poor lighting. But for daytime photo shoots, the photo module is excellent; the detail of the resulting photos and video files is excellent for the price segment. The device does not have stereo sound, so the speaker is recommended to be used only for alerts and notifications. And you can listen to music with pleasure using your favorite wired headphones, for which there is a separate connector. NFC contactless payments (not in all regional versions), an infrared port for controlling household appliances will be additional advantages of the candy bar, but not all lovers of mobile electronics will be able to forgive its modest performance compared to its competitors.
